Follea Aero-2 Lace Front Wig – Video

by Y on July 22, 2012

Rubber ducky you’re the one…

Hi everyone! So this past Tuesday, I purchased the Aero-2 glueless lace front wig from Follea. My longer “Lifestyle” wig is on order, I’m not sure when it will be here and I was seriously chomping at the bit to be in possession of a long wig. I mean seriously, if I’m going to be wearing a wig full time, as I am now, I need to have OPTIONS and I can’t even remember when the last time was I really got to “enjoy” long hair.  Also, in addition I’ve been dying to get my hands on a glueless lace front. Everyone is always talking about lace fronts, I’m frequently asked about them and I wanted to see how I could get this type of a wig to work for myself. Lace front wigs are generally meant to go at or slightly in front of your hairline, it’s meant to replace your hairline with a very natural look. However, I have a wonky hairline, it’s kind of hard to explain it, but I really need to place the wigs slightly behind my hairline in order for them to blend and work perfectly. This is not the easiest task with a lace front, it took me 4 days to get it to work for me. I don’t attribute this to be a fault of the wig, rather more of a result of how I’m choosing to wear it, my head etc.

The Aero-2 lace front is a less expensive wig than my Natalia, as such there are some key differences. The back is a machine wefted closed cap. It has a lace top, lace front and a hand-tied top. Natalia is ALL hand-tied. Both are comfortable, but I think the hand-tied wig feels a tiny bit better. The hair is also European hair, but has been processed, so it isn’t virgin hair. And no, virgin hair doesn’t mean that the the girl who grew out the hair was a virgin (haha)  it means it has had no chemical processing, like hair coloring, perms etc. It is hair in it’s most natural and luscious state.  The hair quality of the Aero is still amazing though. Can you feel the difference if you put both wigs together and touch each? Yes, you can. One is uber yummy silky sweetness, and one is OMG WTF, this is insane, spank me crazy and call me Santa Claus, I think I’ve died and done to heaven. How’s that for painting a picture? Where this wig shines in my view, is that is lays pretty flat (in a good way)  on top of your head, and that makes it look extremely real and natural. That is a result of the lace top, with the lace there is less space between the hair of the wig and your head, less material (?) I don’t know what the technical way is to represent that in words.

A lace front has.. wait for it… lace. I found this to be a tricky situation for myself when I was working to put it behind my hairline because it is sitting on top of my hair and it seemed to lift the lace up from my scalp at the very front of the wig hairline in one spot, ever so microscopically. I also had suspicions that the WiGrip was creating an extra “lift” to the lace that wouldn’t be present if you didn’t use the WiGrip on this type of wig, but since I can only wear a wig with a WiGrip the point was a bit moot to try and  make it work without it. To me this “lift” I was seeing made that section of the wig noticeable.  If it was on direct scalp I would imagine this issue wouldn’t be present. This was an issue I was having when trying to style it with a parted hairline straight down, it wasn’t an issue to clip the hair up in the style you’ll see at the end of  the video below.  So on Wednesday I got frustrated with the lace wig and made her sit in the corner facing the wall on her styrofoam head. Bad girl!   Natalia was waiting for me, like the trusted bestie she is, I thew her on and went on with my day.

I returned to visit the Aero wig the next day, she looked at me and I looked at her and believe there was that wild west music from The Good, The Bad & The Ugly movie playing in my head, you know the dueling music…. “How is this going to go down little missy?”  Uh, not good. Same thing as the day prior. I felt that yet again I could see a tiny bit of the lace lifting as a result of it being on top of my hair behind my hairline and being used with the WiGrip. Also, to the girl who asked me if you can see the WiGrip though a lace wig, the answer is yes… it isn’t really bad, but you can see it though. I have no problem with how it looks,  it sort of looks like you got a bit of hair dye in that area of your scalp. As someone who used to religiously dye my hair red in college, I can attest to the fact that sometimes dye gets on your scalp and does give your scalp a bit of color, it’s not a big deal. But yes you CAN see it.

Freshly washed and dried

Thursday rolls around and I’m beginning to think this girl likes sitting in the darn corner, I try yet again, only to leave the bathroom wearing the smug girl who watched this whole thing go down… yes,  Natalia.

I decide to leave Friday alone, I passed her by in the bathroom and said “not today,” with my hand stretched out in the gesture of “talk to the hand.”  Now we come to Saturday, yes Saturday night, the day of the week where everyone unwinds, lets their hair down (ah hem) and goes out and has a great time. Saturday night should be long hair night right? I had to see HER. I walked into the bathroom ever so cautiously wondering if I would leave disappointed again, will this ever work? WiGrip on, check. Thin hair needing covering… check… I brush the wig, she looks gorgeous. I slide her on my head, brush the hair again and Holy Wigatoli, Zip Zam, this B*tch finally decided to show up and represent. Finally. FINALLY. I’m not sure what was different, maybe I just needed time, maybe she needed time. Who cares. I think sometimes you have to just STEP AWAY FROM THE WIG, give yourself time to adjust, give her time to adjust and try again. This is an example that things don’t always work right away, sometimes you have to be patient. I think the whole process of wearing wigs requires patience in general, but with time it gets easier and better.

I wore this long haired beauty out with pride last night. She looked amazing, I have the photos to prove it 🙂 I went to a bar I frequent with my fiancé, we saw the same bartender we always do, I was wearing a different wig than I normally do, and he didn’t notice a thing. Nothing. Not a mention that my hair miraculously grew 4 inches in a week. Really? Seriously? I was tweeting from the bar as I made note of the fact that as it turns out yet again, nobody notices anything.. apparently ever.

So here we are, it’s Sunday, the girl who had to sit in the corner all week, is getting some much deserved “ME” time. I’m wearing her today and loving every inch of this beauty.

The video below that I’m sharing was taken the day I got her.  The photos of myself at the end of the video  (with my hair pulled up in a clip) where taken shortly after the lace was trimmed, so those images are literally “out of the bag” shots.  I washed her the night I got home to get a better picture of how she was going to look. I’ve come to find out that with human hair wigs you really need to give them a wash before you can get a better idea of what the final end product is going to be like. I cannot speak to how other wigs react after a wash, whether they are better or worse, but with the Follea wigs I  can say with much certainty that they definitely get even more gorgeous after they’ve had a shampoo. The photos at the end of the video with the checkered shirt where from last night.

So without further ado, I now introduce you to… Mila.

WOW that video was amazing. I can’t believe how real this looks even so close up. I need a Follea hair piece! No wonder you’re sooooo happy. I just went back to bonding but would like to have something easier to do on my own.

Keep smiling………YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL!

Beautiful Wig, BEAUTIFUL Girl!

The combination of having a large head (apparently) and living in a place that has three seasons of *hot and humid* caused me to stop wearing wigs after a year or so. Plus, tended to shift. I went from being self conscious about my thin hair to being self conscious about wearing a wig. Ugh. I’ve been using Dermatch, which is like pancake makeup for the scalp. I’m satisfied with it for now.

This wig looks incredibly, amazingly natural!

gorgeous wig and it looks amazing.

Just one question – do you have any recommendations for more affordable options?

Thank you guys for all the kind words!!

@MiChal – I’ve heard a lot of good things about both Dermatch, Toppik and the Joan Rivers version of that hair makeup. I am in an air conditioned environment for most of the day, so I don’t spend over whelming long hours in the sun, I’m not sure how that would be. I tend to shy away from being anywhere “hot” anyways because I swell up like crazy and my face turns red. Sun allergy maybe? who knows, I just prefer to always be in VERY cool weather. Humid weather is worse, that turns my toes in little shrek swollen sausages. LOL

@Mrs M – I think Milano makes good wigs: http://www.mcwigs.com/wigs.html and also Freeda makes good wigs and they have a large discontinued wig section: http://www.freeda.com/discontinued-wigs.html Those are the only 2 other companies I have had experience with. Both are good quality.

Hi I am a new member to your site. Have read all your postings on Follea and even called them. I was wondering about representation in the SF Bay Area? looks like I will be taking a trip to the LA area. I was wondering about cost range, just wanting to get an idea of the expense for a wig. Really enjoying your writings, Jan

Great post and video. I like your funky music! My question…can you highlight this hair just like regular hair if you want to? Also, how long do they expect wigs like this to last? Could you see any of the lace at all once you have it on? Doesn’t appear so!

@Jan – Welcome to the WHLP! I don’t know who carries Follea in San Francisco, but I sent an email earlier inquiring about it for you, I’ll let you know when I hear something back. The cost for the Aero Lace front in the video above ranges from $1,488 (for their shortest length) and up to $3,125 for the longest length which is the one I have in that video. It has 4 lengths it comes in.

My other wig, which is the “Lifestyle,”wig, comes in three lengths of short, medium and long. Mine is the medium. The medium one was $4,188.

They carry a less expensive line than those and it’s called their “Tres Chic” but it only comes in a short length, 11″ from top to tips, but that one is $875

They have their catalog online which shows all the prices and the colors they hair comes in:
http://www.follea.com/data/files/follea-wig-catalog-2012.pdf

@Ann – It is human hair, so it can be colored and highlighted. Based on that question I asked when I bought my Milano wigs, I was told by them that the virgin hair would provide a better more predictable result from the hair color, processed hair can be colored too, but the person doing it REALLY needs to know hair color. I asked that question about the life of the wig when I bought mine and was told approximately 3 years. But that’s an estimate, it depends on how it’s cared for etc. Someone people baby their hair, and some people are rougher on it, so that time frame could be more or less dependent on the person wearing it. As far as seeing the lace, if you stand very close to me and I tilt my head slightly at an up angle like I was looking at the sky, then had you get real close, yes you can see it 🙂 It is not 100% invisible in all views, but I consider that for *almost* ALL of life’s situations that no one would ever know I was wearing a wig. People in life aren’t peering into your hairline, leaning it to find the lace. I do it with the mirror though LOL. 🙂 Also I just want to note I do have this slightly *behind* my hairline.

XOXO

How do you keep the front down if its on your own bio hair?

Reply

admin July 23, 2012 at 11:55 am

@Eileen – It just stays down. It’s a glueless lace front so it’s designed to just stay put I suppose. Like I mentioned above during the week I was experiencing issues because I felt in the area I was parting it that the very front of the lace was lifting and was noticeable to my eye, It seems to have been fine Sat, Sunday and today. But I’m not sure if that’s because I’m parting it in a different spot – perhaps a more dense hairline spot on the wig, I’m not exactly sure. I haven’t been wearing this that long to know all the ins and outs of it. But I did find when I put it on (it’s on top of my hair and I have a WiGrip under there) the first several times it had a VERY slight lift. My fiancé said no one would notice, but I could see it. xoxo

Wanted you to know I went to the mall today with my little girl to buy some school things and we were in a children’s shop. I got a call from my dr. while there to discuss the fact that I’ve rapidly now started losing my eyelashes and eyebrows (in a matter of weeks they have thinned tremendously!) and after I got off the phone, I started discussing with the ladies in the shop my hair loss at a high level (I’m quite open about it and they obviously heard me on the phone). I was surprised to find out that out of the three women working there, ALL three had experienced hair loss. Two due to chemical treatments and one just due to age, etc. One of the younger women had on a wig. I told her about the wigrip you wrote about here. She got really excited about it. Though I hate to hear anyone else is suffering hair loss, it was nice to know that I’m not alone, that women are open to talking about it and also, that maybe I also helped someone in a small way by sharing some of the info. I’ve learned from you here! Thanks again. Good karma!

Well all this information is very informative, however as I suspect some of us whose budget will not allow us to purchase a premium wig like these gorgeous thousand(s) dollar ones we’ll just have to accept the fact that all these stories and blogs are probably not for us. We can always dream though I guess. Being a young and beautiful young lady as this girl is and obviously fairly able to frequent the upscale salons is a true blessing for her but probably not a reality for most of us..or maybe I should just say me! sorry bout that. I should not assume. I live in L A as well and I can tell you from experience-these kind of salons are not so welcoming or helpful to the average looking not so young folks who look like they could probably never afford these wigs. None the less all of us who have the thinning hair problem are so very much needing some help and guidance in finding a solution to our thinning hair. I just wish there was a place for us to go. I always wondered why in the world there are no salons that are simply disignated for only people with thinning hair like wig consultants or thinning hair specialists that the averge person could afford to have an evaluation and get some real advice and help. God knows there’s enough of us out here. Wig shopping can be so intimidating and downright humiliating if you dont look like you can afford the wigs or are going to buy quickly even if maybe you can. Most people I have run into in wig shops just ignore me and are sometime borderline rude. Obviously you can probably tell Ive never had much luck with an honestly caring person to help, but Im not going to stop looking. Sorry about going on like this. I do love this site and reading all of the comments even if not for me. I wish we could have a thin hair convention somewhere once a year where we could all meet like in Vegas or even a small town and share solutions and see all the latest products and wigs available now-WOW Id be there in a heartbeat-I dont care what it’d cost-Id figure something out! That being said, the lovely girl who spends so much of her time and energy on here here showing her videos and talking about all this stuff, God Bless her. Shes truly been an inspiration Even an ol tart like me 😉 got me to thinking even writing and thats something. I will never again take things for granted. I used to have beautiful hair even as recently as five years ago and all of a sudden it miniaturized and now its so thin it doesnt even look like hair, more like nylon thread that falls out without even touching it but I would like to recommend one product that helps me sometime though. Its a little like toppik but its in a spray can. Its a little easier to make the look of diffuse thinning hair all over a little more even. Its called hair cubed and is about $80 a can and you can find it online. If you cant afford one of these beautiful wigs or stand to wear pieces in this awfully hot and humid summer, you might want to give it a try. God Bless to all who write and contribute to this site so we dont all feel so alone. I guess we all should remeber we are more than our hair but to have some options and alternatives would sure be nice!

@ Ann T – What an amazing story, I think if more of us were open to talking about it we’d be surprised how many other is life can actually relate. Could you tell that the gal wearing a wig was wearing gone? I often think I must see lots of gals each day that are wearing hair and I don’t even realize it. Yay for telling her about the WiGrip, she’ll really appreciate what that band can do, makes life so much easier.. at least it does for me. Congrats on opening up with these ladies!

@Debbie – I woke up this morning to let the dog out as I do every morning, and while I wait for him I sometimes (often times) check my email on my iPhone. I saw the comment you had made and it troubled me so much I couldn’t go back to sleep, I got up pulled my laptop out and here I am.
It has never been my intention to do anything to any woman dealing with hair loss that would make her feel worse about her situation. My speaking of my new hair or my experience in no way implies that THAT is the only wig that will work, there are wonderful less expensive options out there. Whether it be a less expensive, yet still quality wig, or choosing to go the bonded topper route from a place like hairdirect.com – the hair would still be life changing to the person willing to “accept” wearing hair. It doesn’t matter what the hair is, if we aren’t at a place where we are comfortable making that step. A luxury vehicle is no better than an economy vehicle to the person who is afraid of getting behind the wheel.

I think you have a misconception about my wig journey, I only technically WENT to two places, Milano wigs and Follea. And the Follea salon is very intimate (one salon chair) small and private, you can’t tell it’s a salon from the outside, it’s more like in an office building. They will see anyone who makes an appointment, and that time will be yours, they charge $85 (or was it $80, can’t remember) for the visit and if you buy something they wave that consultation fee. But I thought that was awesome because you don’t feel obligated to buy anything, you are paying for a one on one consultation. I felt very comfortable. I ordered my Freeda wig online, that was my FIRST wig, I did online ordering because I was scared to go anywhere in person. Milano is a very welcoming and comfortable environment, it is rather large as it is a showroom of wigs all over the wall, and if you are in the area I definitely recommend you check them out they are in Los Angeles on LaBrea. They have a large showroom there and you can just try on all the stuff by yourself or ask for assistance, they also do cutting, coloring and styling on any wig, not just wigs purchased by them, so they are like a wig hair salon in the true sense of the word in that way, Plus they have the WiGrip there.

I KNOW what it’s like to be judged for not being able to afford something… even if you can, I have experienced this myself many times actually. Because I often dress VERY casual, that vibe I give off is that perhaps I’d be better suited walking bare foot at the beach than wherever it was that I was trying to buy something. Several years back my fiancé and myself went to a mercedes dealership to get a car, he liked the one in the showroom and stopped a passing sales guy to get some help, the sales guy took one look at US and completely dismissed us telling us it was a Very expensive car. No shit right? I think we got that part once we passed the door entrance and it said “mercedes.” We were about to leave when a younger sales guy came by, answered my fiancés questions, treated us kindly as the customers we were and we purchased the car that day. That was a car, I know that’s worse when it comes to wearing hair, but please don’t have any illusions that I just bounced into a “high end” salon the the gates of hair colored tresses parted for me. They were VERY down to earth at Follea, and very kind, I would have been treated the same there whether I was wearing cut off jean shorts and a tank top or Prada boots and a Louis Vitton handbag. They would have treated me the same whether I was 24, 34, or 74. I realize that isn’t always the situation in every establishment, as in my Mercedes story above, but I am confident it would be there. Vicka and Geena are amazing women that made me feel as good as one could feel when looking for a wig, it was even, dare I say… enjoyable at some points. You have read my blog for quite sometime you must know by now through my words an angst how deep my suffering has been. There is no amount of money that could have saved me from that, it’s been such a hard and difficult tear stricken agonizing 13 years. I was TWENTY ONE when this started, I’m 34 now. All the years in between blur together with snap shots of myself on the couch crying, in bed crying, at the supermarket crying…

I was hurt by what you wrote, maybe I’m too sensitive. I don’t “frequent” high end salons. I haven’t felt good enough to go to a regular hair salon in a very long time and I only went to 2 places to see wigs in person. For approximately the past 4 years I’ve had someone come to my house to cut my hair because I was too ashamed and embarrassed to go to a hair salon. I’ve only ever wanted to HELP women in any way I was capable of. I haven’t shared images of myself really since I started this site. I was pushing myself to be more open to do that now at this time because I felt it would help others to see me, to see my hair. It seems to not have had a positive effect for you, and I apologize it was only meant to show the possibilities that are out there.

I’ve often thought about the women’s hair loss convention thing. There is a poll to side of the site I started years ago, it says “If There Was A Conference For Women With Hair Loss Would You Be Interested In Attending?” The numbers overwhelmingly say “Yes” I hope perhaps I can help orchestrate something like that one day because I know how helpful it would be for others as well as myself. I also talked with another gal in the network about setting something up more more casual and intimate, where it wasn’t like a convention but rather we would still all meet up at a location, vegas always topping the charts of the conversation, and just get together and have girl time. Be around those that understand.

I haven’t heard of hair cubed, it sounds toppik and dermatch which are also great products. We all have to find what works best us, and my goal is for women to not only know they aren’t alone in this struggle, but to know that options do exist and you aren’t destined to live your life the way I lived mine these past 13 years.

All The Best,
Y

((HUGS))

P.S. You should check out Lee Anthony is Orange County, I have heard great things about that hair replacement salon, they have several lines they carry and I’ve heard they are just really amazing. I had an appointment there myself the Saturday following the appointment I had at Follea, I cancelled it because I found my hair, but I was on my way there too.

XOXO

@Debbie, I have to say the admin was very kind and diplomatic in her response to you, however I don’t feel that way. You are very angry with your situation which we ALL can relate and while most of can’t afford the wigs Y can afford, she has been a beacon and absolute joy to watch her reach this plight in life. She damn well deserves those wigs. There is no need to take your lack of fortunate out on her. She is a beautiful person with a beautiful soul and if it weren’t for her sharing her life with us most of us will still be in the wilderness in our journey.

I could not disagree more strongly with Debbie’s point of view, and I echo Kip’s sentiments. I am not one to post comments but I was really bugged by what Debbie wrote. I just want to say that this site has SAVED me, it has saved my marriage, it has given me hope, without this place I would probably be in an institution of some sort because I was losing my mind along with my hair. These most recent posts by you have been incredibly encouraging to read, I can’t thank you enough. I disagree that if we can’t afford this same wig, that these posts aren’t for us. Of course they are, and I want to see more and I don’t want anyone to discourage you from that. I hadn’t heard of Follea before and while I know it seems to be a higher priced wig and maybe out of my budget currently, just knowing there is hair like that is making me have an easier time with my own hair loss situation, seeing a beautiful woman such as yourself wearing hair and moving on is amazing. You are my hope, you are my inspiration.

Hey, Y, hang in there and please don’t be upset. I doubt Debbie was trying to bring you down or make you feel bad. It sounds like she might be harboring some resentment towards this utterly frustrating hair loss situation and goodness knows we can all relate to that feeling! I ALSO can’t afford a wig that costs thousands of dollars, but I certainly love hearing hopeful stories from Y./Admin and think there must be decent options in the budget range available to all. I currently spend $2oo on cut and color every few months (on what is left of my hair) not to mention all the other hair loss products that don’t seem to be doing anything. I did the math and annually it equals at least a $1,500. That’s maybe a far cry from a $3K-$4K wig from Follea, but that’s also MY budget and perhaps people may consider THAT really extrav?. Anyway, bottom line Y/Admin. thank you for passionately sharing SO much information and your personal struggles with this. I am sure everyone will agree that your intention is to inspire, educate, provide and receive support to this growing community.
Let’s continue to support each other. Even when we feel bad, angry, mad, hopeless etc!
Lastly, Y., yes I could tell that it was a wig because it looked extremely thick and really too perfect to be real hair, but she looked great. She was already young and pretty, so she pulled it all off. I’ll need to go with a more natural look when my day comes because that’s just more my style. Hopefully, I can afford the look I want! I have started a wig savings account! 🙂

Wow ! Im so glad that Debbie wrote back to apologize and I FEEL her pain, but it again proves my point that IM COMING BACK AS A MAN IN MY NEXT LIFE ! Listen, we are all horrified by what is happening to us and have moments we are not proud of how we are handling it. I can never fly to LA or get a super expensive wig with cash,(Hello Mastercard!) but never for one moment did it occur to me to read into “Y’s” situation and think one negative thought(And believe me,my little town is the Capital of snobby,gossipville.haha). I am 10 yrs older, but relate to Ys story every day!
Please never let this website become a “bitch session”. There are days this place is the only hope I have ! LETS STICK 2GETHER ,WITH LOVE 😀

I think I understand what Debbie is saying. Maybe her delivery just wasn’t the best. It can be difficult to put all your frustrations in a little comment box. That said, I agree with the other commentor, this site has given me new life. I have tried to join, but I don’t have outlook or something. Not real computer savvy. Anywho, I can’t really afford a wig like MIla, but I do my best to “work it out” anyway. It is harder when you have less money, but I have been relentless about not wearing a wig that looks bad. As a matter of fact, some of the wigs in the less expensive shops tick me off, because I can’t believe that they think a woman would feel confident with that mess on her head. Sorry, I digress. My hair started thinning about 3 ears ago and over time I have spent so much time in the house that I have been told by my Dr. that I’m pre-diabetic due to lack of movement and severe vitamin D deficientcy (spelled wrong i’m sure). I have learned to really work with wigs that are as cheap as 20 or 25 dollars. I am not sure if the things I do would work for anyone else, but I’d be glad to share if ever asked.
Bottom line this is hard for us all and it is devestating, but we have to get to the part of the journey where we except (as best we can) our hair “lot in life” and figure out ways to work around this “hair maze”. It can be done, not easy, but attainable. Sorry, I know this is long. Also, I can rock some hats too! Oh yeah, Mila looks fabulous. I told my husband now that I have a few wigs that I have worked to my liking, I am going to wear those and save some money to buy a higher end wig even if it takes me two years. Love to all!

Thank you guys for the replies and wanting to support me and for providing different perspectives. I am very sensitive (maybe overly sensitive) about my hair loss and EVERYTHING and anything surrounding it.

@Kip & @ Laura – Thank you for your words of support.

@Ann T – I see hair sometimes, like on the girl you mentioned, and I KNOW it’s a wig, but it looks good, it really doesn’t matter if I or anyone else knew because the person rocked the look. I think it helps tremendously if you can be “confident” and wear the hair, it makes the look flow so much more cohesively. We have to wear the hair and not let the hair wear us 🙂

@Debbie, thank you for your apology and I just want to explain why I was hurt by the comment, it was because I felt (albeit unintentionally on your part) that it diminished my suffering and struggle and all it has taken for me to to get where I am today. It makes it difficult to want to be open and share when you feel you are being “judged” and it definitely impacted me in that way.

@paula – this is C5030, the catalog refers to it as a dark blonde w/ butterscotch highlights. I do actually have the lifestyle wig, it’s really awesome – that’s my favorite, you can see it in this video:

https://www.womenshairlossproject.com/wigs/wheres-your-hair-wheres-the-wig/

I haven’t tried the gripper because it’s not appropriate for me, I still have a considerable amount of useless thin hair crowning me – too much for the gripper, as the gripper requires the person wearing it to have VERY little to no hair at all, or a person willing to shave their hair to wear it. I wouldn’t even attempt to put it on as it would definitely yank on my hair.

@phillygrl – I hear ya on coming back as a man in the next life.. but oh how I love being a girl – so I’m still going to rough it out in the next life too 🙂 LOL

@Tania – Bad wigs tick me off too… it makes wig wearing seem like not an option when that’s what you see out there in the world. I agree we do have to reach a point where we accept our hair “lot in life.” That is the only time peace will come. It takes time…

@Michelle – I *think* the hair replacement salon you would go to would probably have a color ring that you guys would work off to establish the best color for you. If the hair gods are with you on that day, they may even have *your* needed color in stock. I know people can call up and place an order, but a blind order without SEEING the hair and colors first is a bit of a scary prospect to me. Now that I KNOW what I like and need, I could place a blind order, but I think when you are looking to get the wig the first time it’s definitely a good idea to see it in person to see if it’s what you need. Sorry to hear no one called you back from Follea. Where are you located, I can try and get the information for you.

XOXO

Thank you so much for finding a location for the Follea close to me. San Carlos is not far from San Francisco. I purchase a lace wig today that will work for awhile. Kept it on all day and didn’t feel bad. Full lace cap and the amazing lace front hair line. I am a 63 year old Grandmom, been very encouraged and inspired your stories and information, you are reaching and helping gals of all ages… be proud of yourself!!

Thans for sharing this video with us. I just woke up, brushed my hair as I do every morning, and found that my shedding, which has decreased significantly, is back to where it was about a month ago, where I was losing tons of hair. Everytime my shedding decreases I get so happy and feel so hopeful again, that I even stop thinking as much about my hair loss even if my hair still looks really thin, but when I see the shedding goes from that to increasing all of a sudden I get depressed again and read your posts and those of other ladies on this site who have been able to make the transition into wearing hair and feel happy and in control again. Watching how your wig looks so natural gives me a lot of hope and I thank you for sharing this with us again. Can I ask you how long is this wig supposed to last for and how often you wash it? Also, my hair has always been thin and would like a wig with a hair texture and thickness as close as mine. Are you able to choose the thickness of the hair as well when you ordered this wig?

@Kyle – I totally understand dealing with the daily grind of hair loss, watching the shedding, then having it decrease, only for it to increase again.. and on and on.. it is exhausting and very much a struggle. I’m glad that others and myself have been able to help you have hope. There is HOPE, for sure. I’m the last person I thought would be wearing a wig, but I love it, I do, I absolutely love it.

I was told the wig lasts for approximately 2-3 years. That number is a guess really and depends on if you are someone who babies your wig or someone like myself who really doesn’t make much of an effort to baby it. I just live in it and enjoy it. It expires when it expires. I’m just so happy I now have made peace with wearing hair. That was the hardest part of all. I’d imagine that number can be stretch beyond 3 years if you are really careful with washing it, combing it, keeping a sun protectant on it (which like a bad girl, I don’t do either), conditioning it etc. It’s hard to say when a person’s brakes will go out because it depends on the driver, same kinda thing with wigs 🙂

Washing…. Well when I first got my wig I was washing her A LOT. Like way beyond the prescribed frequency because it helped me feel more comfortable wearing the wig. And a wig is pointless to us unless we are willing to wear it, so I’m sure I peeled off a few days off Natalia’s life expectancy (sorry girl.. but you were my first!) I’ve chilled out a bit on the washing as I got more comfortable wearing the hair. So to answer your question when I first got Natalia I was washing her twice a week, then once a week, and now I think it’s been over 2 weeks since she’s been washed and I think she’s about due for a shampoo now.

You don’t really choose the thickness of hair, as in the diameter of each follicle. Follea hair in general has a very fine silky quality to it. It’s on a finer side per hair than some of the other wigs I’ve seen. I actually prefer that, and that is one of the traits I love about the Follea wigs. If you are referring to density as in how much hair is sewn into the wig, I know they can do custom densities, usually a person would probably want that in regarding to adding more hair I think. I’m not sure if they’ve ever received a request for less hair. I find their wigs to have the perfect amount of hair for a wig, I wouldn’t want less and I wouldn’t want more. I also understand that if you’ve live with fine hair all your life, that you may want less than what they carry on their wigs, something that matches more of what you grew up with. It’s something you should check out in person first with their stock pieces (if possible) prior to making a custom density order. I find that the hair on the lace wig is a tiny bit heavier (thicker ?), I think that is due to it being processed, it isn’t “as fine” as on the Lifestyle line they carry.

One of my favorite clients introduced me to FOLLEA wigs. Amazing quality . They started to get a little too blonde so I’ve been putting lowlights in to bring back dimension and refresh them.
You can check them out on my facebook if you have any questions or would like some added color. I use no ammonia deposit only argon oil color. It’s conditioning and great shine.

I truly appreciate all these comments and encouragement , I have scarring alopecia and have no hair in the front and enough to wear a hat with some hair showing front the bottom. Wigs are my new life but my problem is styling them, human hair needs to be styled and other then paying a salon to wash and make the piece look good, what can you do. It’s especially tough when I travel, I’m fearful of going away for any length of time because my wig looses it’s style.
I also don’t live near a follea salon.
Thank you
