Wearing Your Wig Up In a Hair Clip – Video

by Y on August 10, 2012

So I was asked by someone to do a video that would show me putting my wig up in a clip. So this is what the video was intended to be for, it took some detours (typical me, detour city) along the way. Please excuse my multiple “Uh’s” and “Anyways” filler words ๐Ÿ™‚ Que sera sera.

I see what you mean about the clip but it looks nice as long as it does not feel weird to you on your head.

I am continuously impressed by your fun music! Get it, girl!!

You can DEF wear your wig in clip like that if you get comfortable with it. Looks beautiful and would be great for windy days.
Crazy day yesterday…sure you can remember days like it. Sat here on your website(for courage), had phone in hand, wine glass ready, and two numbers for wig shops…. actually called each of them twice …and hung up ! WHY cant I get myself to do this ?! Im not a wimp! But this seems to be the one thing in life I can’t handle………ok……venting over. LOVE TO U and all the women on here ! Will try again Monday, breathe and dial, breathe and dial………….. haha( Going to take your advice and go try some on before I try phone ordering) xoxo

@Ann – It doesn’t feel good in a clip at all actually, it’s not for me. I just did the hair clip video because someone had written wanting to see me place the wig in a clip, and there it was .. but like I wrote to her, it doesn’t personally work for me. I know plenty of women do wear their wigs in clips, but it makes the wig feel “off” to me, unbalanced and it just ain’t my thang ๐Ÿ™‚

@phillygrl – Gots to find the humor in all of it ya know. Like I wrote to Ann, I don’t like the wig in a clip at all, in addition to that, I’ve worn enough ponytails and clipped up hair in the past 13 years to last a lifetime that if I never wear my hair that way again I would be just fine with it. I completely know the call/hangup/call/hangup thing you are going through in trying to make an appointment. It’s so hard. Wine always helps, me anyways ๐Ÿ™‚ Take it day by day, baby steps.

XOXO

hi y,
My one cat. Lucy, and I are wanting to tell you how beautiful you are and we love your videos put to music – they are highlights for me! She is lying on my chest as I try to type this. I try putting my hair up in a clip with my topper and it kind of pulls on it, also I tried a ponytail which I haven’t worn in years, when I took off the pony tail – oh yeah, lots of hairs attached -they were mine and I almost forgot how sickening that made me feel ๐Ÿ˜‰ that was for the “forgot” part. I hear you on the clip and ponytails that if I never wear one again it would suit me too! You are super inspiring and funny. I love your wigs, just too expensive at the moment. The one I have “on deck” is pretty good but it has bangs and I’m just not used to bangs on me, oh well better than what isn’t there. I’ve already started my hair fund, I decided it’s going to be for the rest of my life so every week I put $50 away from my budget and any extra money or bonus, I add to it – once I get a couple of wigs to alternate, I should be able to sustain the fund as I won’t need to buy a new wig every year – not bad ๐Ÿ™‚

Well, keep up the awesome job, I’m like a kid on Christmas morning when I see a new blog from you.

hugs, Lina xo

phillygrl,

you may not realize but you called two places – you may of hung up on them but you made a super big step. It took me years to get up the courage, I still remember the “instant body soaked sweat induced, poo cramp, want to barf” wreck I was. Unfortunately, depending on how long we’ve been dealing with hair loss, we’ve encountered a lot of broken promises, heartache and unscrupulous individuals. I was and am embarassed but I didn’t do anything to be embarassed about. I found a wig shop 2 hours away from where I live and found a bit of a pushy salesman but his staff is so kind and compassionate and the wig quality is pretty good but they also range in price. Unfortunately they don’t do lace wigs, so I cut bangs in mine for fear of the wig being obvious at my forehead. It’s a start for me and maybe one day I will have more money and try somewhere else, it’s just for me, I feel safe here.

I agree with trying on the hair before mail ordering, they are too expensive to go “blind”. If I walked into a car dealership, I’d be looking at cars right? So, if I walk into a wig shop, I’m going to be looking at wigs and the sales people know that. Deep breathe honey and do not despair.

When you are ready, you will find a way, I know it. I can tell you want this hair nightmare to be done with and move on, believe me I know. I will be 100% honest, as each day passes, I’m glad I did not panic and over analyze in the mirror about my new hair, I’m glad I did not rip it off and give up. I am getting more and more used to wearing hair and comfortable in it and I preparing myself for my wig wearing adventure. Each day the stress is a little less and it is showing in how I feel and those around me can sense some peace too and I am becoming a little more tolerable to be around because I’m not obsessing. I’ve lost most my hair, almost my sanity and two decades of my life hiding – I will be damned if I will let this hair loss take away the relationships that are important to me – it won’t take one more thing away from me.

We are all here for you!

Big hug and perhaps a glass of wine ๐Ÿ˜‰
I’m so proud of you for making the calls.

Lina

That was awesome! Thank you for that! It looked so real- do you pull out any hairs in the back? Also, how in the world does the Wigrip stay on your head?? Sometimes I put cloth headbands on and they slide right off ๐Ÿ™

@Lina – thanks so much! Yup ponytails are so “bleh” for me. I’ve been forced into them for far too long. Prior to losing my hair I hardly ever wore a ponytail, *maybe* when I was doing some sort of cardio type activity, and it was only a *maybe* I’m glad you started yourself a hair fund, I think it’s a great idea. And hello to Lucy!

@Hope4hair – I actually don’t wear my hair up in a clip with my wig, it’s not very comfortable for me. If I was going to though I would definitely yank out some of own hairs below in the back to give it a really natural look at the nape. The WiGrip ties around your head like a regular headband and at the back fastens with a velcro closure. It keeps the wig on just with the friction of the velour material with the grain of the material going in a specific direction that magically keep the wig secured in place. Also I know what you mean with the cloth headbands sliding off, I have a head where I’m always baffled by the little headbands that I see girls wear that go all away round the head, they fall off me to. It’s possible that would happen with this too if I just wore the headband out as is, without the wig, but you are putting the WiGrip headband on THEN placing your wig on top of it, which also locks the grip under it in place. So it all works out, even for heads like ours where headbands slide off ๐Ÿ™‚

XOXO

Ok so you wear your hair down, then tuck it inside the wig cap?
