OOKISA Hair Products – Promises, Promises

by Y on March 17, 2009

The other day I was surfing the internet and stumbled across an advertisement for the OOKISA hair products.  The advertisement stated it regrows hair, so of course I had to immediately inspect it. I quickly clicked on to the link and was taken to the OOKISA website. I was greeted by the little cartoon above, which I have to admit, is super cute. In fact it actually is a little animation, and her hair goes from short to long on a loop. I want to preface this post by saying I am not trying to attack the product, but I have some serious issues with the claims they are making on their website. I have no issue with the hair volumizing, extra shine claims, I definitely think that is possible with a really nice shampoo, but hair growth?

Their website states the following, “In addition, these ingredients improved hair flexibility, enhanced moisture retention and stimulated key factors involved with the growth of new hair. This resulted in an overall youthful appearance to hair.”

What are the key factors? I searched the product list and found a:

Fortifying Shampoo” which the company states “powerfully cleanses and removes polluting and clogging substances that damage hair and keep you from achieving optimum hair thickness.” Contrary to what some may believe, clogged pores do not cause hair loss. Having said, that it is nice to be squeaky clean, so okay I’ll bite, and say this may be a nice quality shampoo for having clean hair.

They also offer a “Replenishing Conditioner” which states “moisturizes hair and is lightweight,” big plus for thin hair gals, but still haven’t seem the active growing agent.

I spot a  “Instant Volumizing Souffle” which I admit sounds quite tantalizing to my follicles. Do I put it on my head or eat it? I love soufflé!

And lastly my eyes rested on the “Nighttime Follicle Renewal Serum” product. EUREKA! The site states “This formula not only prevents thinning, loss and splitting.” Wow it does more..? A few lines down I read that it actually “Anchors hair to the scalp.” What? How does it do that? Krazy glue? Because let me tell you, at this point the only thing that probably will keep my hair in my head is a little help from Elmer’s or the Krazy glue folks. I am certainly going to need more than a water lily or some white peony tea.  They are really making some big claims. I didn’t see minoxidil listed anywhere in any of the ingredient lists. Minoxidil is the only FDA approved topical product that can actually regrow hair.

I have to give them credit for a beautifully done website, with flowers growing out of their bottles and hair growing on a cartoon, it appears quite sophisticated, but they failed to tell the reader what is “IN” the products that are the “key factors involved with the growth of new hair.” Point it out! Is it the “Fragrance (Parfum)” ? Inquiring minds want to know. We are a bunch of antsy hair loss women.  Less flowers more facts!

The product in and of itself probably is a nice shampoo/ conditioner / volumizer combo, and I’d have no qualms about using it myself for those things. But the turn off for me is the claims of helping to stop hair loss. Don’t use this as a marketing tool, it is a serious issue. Stick with what the product is, or provide the active ingredient that actually grows hair. Their gallery offers no before and after pictures, which I would think if you were going to makes such claims you would back it up with a little visual evidence. Although, with technology today pictures can be doctored up, so you can’t really trust those either.

If you do decide to visit the site, spare yourself, don’t click on the “gallery” link. I almost had dry heaves looking at all the gorgeous beautiful hair. 🙂

I’m curious, have any of you ladies on the list tried this product? I have been a sucker for so many shampoos already that make bold promises they need keep….

I’m glad you wrote this, its about time this product got some attention! I too was trying to find out more about the product. I searched and searched and searched for product ratings on the satisfaction/delivery of OOKISA on its promises, but there seems to be none on the world wide web. Unfortunately these money-hungry-greedy-leeches only want to exploit our condition & have no sincerity to back up their claims. 🙁

Hello, Ladies!

I also got very curious and I signed up for their no risk trial offer (which gives the pill, the souffle, and the serum). I was desperate due to my recent hair loss and as mentioned, that cartoon is supercute. Before my trial, I looked everywhere for a review but couldn’t find any – which surprised me because I saw their ads in many places.

I must say, the souffle REALLY pumps up the volume – the first time I tried it, I was shocked that my hair looked so voluminous – but without looking frizzy. Let me tell you – I’ve tried a lot of products in the market for volumizing but nothing worked like this souffle. It made my head look full of thick real hair. I actually used it a few times for an evening out for a date or such – but I realized that I couldn’t purchase the souffle alone – I didn’t want to grow too dependent on it and stopped using it – I’m already psychologically dependent on Toppix, a hair loss concealer and I cannot leave home without it. I couldn’t imagine being dependent on another product, which would be super expensive to purchase (as I will explain below, I wasn’t going to use the other two items in the package).

I felt funny ingesting something that I didn’t know the details of the drug action so I didn’t try the pills. I tried the serum, which felt pretty nice, invigorating (like peppermint on your skin), but felt kind of sticky. I currently use Toppix (as mentioned), and I wash my hair every other day (due to the time it takes to style my hair to look natural) and I just couldn’t figure out a good way to combine the two – basically, using the serum on Toppix would have made a terrible mess so I stopped using the serum in a few days (again, I did not feel too safe putting something on my skin when I didn’t fully understand how it worked).

I would buy the souffle alone, as a hair styling aid because my hair really looked amazing with it. I would call it perhaps the best styling aid ever, for volumizing my thin limp hair. However, until I real up more on the drug actions of the pill and the serum, I do not wish to purchase these, or the set of three, which is how the company is marketing them. Please share your experience of using either the serum or the pill and I am actually curious.

Update:

After I posted the previous comment, I went to the company website and learned that they stopped offering the pills that they sent to me. I guess they realized that people were turned off like I was about ingesting something mysterious and unknown!
I also see that the souffle is available for $27.95 – it seems pretty expensive but for the effect that I saw, I might buy it and use it for special occasions (if and when I run out of the current one I have). I cannot speak for the shampoo and the conditioner that are now a part of their package. It sounds like such a nice idea to have “natural” products to improve our hair condition, but it seems like the company is struggling to find the right way to market their products (as evidenced by the company pulling out their pills from the market and rearranging their “free trial offer”). Or rather, perhaps the company does not have much to base their claims on. I still stand by what I said earlier about the souffle, though – it works really great and I *almost* stop caring about how it works.. I look amazing with it. It’s amazing how hair loss can make someone who is rational and intelligent (moi) to lose all ability to reason (sigh..).

Hello Purple Sky-

I signed up with the cute trial offer that they had. Anyway, I was the one who got the Night Serum , Shampoo and Conditioner but not knowing the $100 every 2 mths secret contract. I opened the beautifully boxed goods and tried the serum…I must have pumped the 8 maximum since I have such thin and fine hair (inherited from my father side). It dried pretty quickyly and I went to bed. The next morning, I used the shampoo and then I conditioned leaving the conditioner for more than 3 minutes. Then ran to work with my hair still wet. I was so amazed when my hair dried….it was so shiny and sexy looking. I had some people asked me if I did anything to my hair…it’s almost like when you just colored your hair…so shiny. The next day, I didn’t shampoo and condition my hair…just damped it. Again, I quickly went to work and let the natural air dry my hair….surprisingly it still looked good…and so soft. Then I noticed a little black hair where I soaked a thinning spot.

Although, I am not saying that the product worked for me and may for you. I am just saying that you really have to try it. Besides I spend more than $100 every 2 months eating out at lunch…I’ll just have to take a brown bag from now on just to get the “look” that I so envy from other Asian women with gorgeous shiny dark hair. I never had that even in my youth days.

By the way, the pill I believe is made of Biotins which you can find at GNC — Hair & Nail Pills! Or, you can have Jello for snack….gelatin is good for your hair and skin as well as nails. But I think the most effective is the Flax Seed Oil which you’ll notice how nice your skin and hair in about a week. Given you also cut alcohol from your diet.

Hi Everyone – Thanks for sharing your thoughts on OOKISA Products. I personally don’t think it can grow hair, but I’d buy it if it just made my hair “look” fuller and nicer. I’m BIG on the hair products, I have every type of pump, spray and volumizer.

I do wish that manufacturers of products would be *honest* with what the product can deliver. So many empty promises can leave us feeling quite lost and defeated. I respect honesty more and am more likely to use a product that says it will just make it LOOK fuller because that is honest. There are some great shampoos and sprays that can make it look fuller, but just as Nioxin isn’t going to grow hair, I doubt this one will either.

Yes, I among others have fallen victum to the OOkisa products. I ordered the 30 day free trial for 5.95 for the fortifying Shampoo, Repl. Conditioner and the Night time Follicle Renewal Serum, plus 22.95 for the Instant volumizing souffle. I have tried this for about a week and have not been impressed. My hair is baby fine with using no products. I have no volume unless I use voluminizer. The shampoo makes my hair feel, lets see…strawlike until I use the conditioner and then it is SO soft I can’t do anything with it. Even using the Instant Volumizing Souffle I couldn’t see a difference. I have use the Nighttime Follicle Renewal Serum. I used about 8 dolips and massaged into my scalp. Yes after about 5 minutes I could feel the tingle but haven’t noticed any new growth. I know…it takes longer than a week to notice new hair growth. I am sending my products back for a refund. I can’t see paying 100.00 a month for something I am not sure about. If you have money you can throw out the window then I recommend this (if you have the time to wait for results.) I have no patience and know there is some cure for thicker hair out there that does not cost 2 arms, 4 fingers and a leg.

Ladies, don’t waste your time. As a guy with thinning/receding hair, the only thing that even remotely helped my hair loss is a combination of minoxidil and finasteride along with vitamin supplements like b-complex, biotin, MSM, flaxseed oil, green tea capsules, soy, grapeseed extract and L-carnitine. I also eat more fish and soy and green tea (Japanese sushi and miso) and less red meat and soda. It took years of trial and error but now I have very few shedding problems and thicker hair. Basically speaking, if the ingredients in Ookisa don’t match the above ingredients I use, I know it’s a scam and trust me…I’ve tried most every shampoo out there that’s claimed to regrow hair.

I used Ookisa’s Shampoo, Conditioner and Follicle renewing serum for 30 days. It made my hair smell really nice ( like jasmin ) and left my hair soft and shiny. My hair kept falling out and there was no difference as far as thickness or regrowth. I get the same results with Pantene. Anyway I sent back the product and Im hoping they didnt take the 100$ from my card.

Hello Ladies,
I fell for their add for a “free” sample….Ookisa is a rip off as far as their tactics to sell their product. You get a “free” sample my butt…you get to try the product for 30 days and if u do not send back unused portion they bill you $100 for the free sample plus every 2 months you get billed another $100 and get more product that you never even ordered. I am now into this for $200 and I have no new hair growth. they will get the unused portion back this time. But I was already charged $200 does any of this seem fair???

Hello everyone, well I liked reading everyones comments but I must say I love my shampoo and conditioner. People have said my hair has never looked so nice and that it looks thicker and it even feels thicker. I am not saying I have alot more hair but it does look better and softer! I havent tryed the other products but I plan too. I will keep in touch.

This product is what fried my hair and started my hair loss. The 1st time I used it my hair dried babyfine , it has always been thick and heavy. It then became brittle and still(3 months)continues to snap off. I’ve lost about half my hair from this ,I only used it twice , the dryness and breakage started immediately.I had no problem before this, my husband wanted my hair to grow faster,It was to the middle of my back, now it’s above my shoulders.I look like Rosanne Rosannadanna.

I have tried the shampoo and conditioner. They do make your hair feel good and have a nice shine. I didn’t try the fortifier because it contains sulfur and I break out if I use it. I tried the ‘free sample’ just pay shipping (about $6). I plan on sending the rest back because it is to expensive for me.

Heidi June 23, 2009 at 4:48 pm

Really too expensive to keep on using. I found it seemed to make my hair thicker when used in hard water. I took it on my travels where the water is softer and my hair did not seem as thick. Maybe just a coinincidence. I should just start saving up for a really nice wig.

If you have issues with gluten do not buy this product. I just received mine in the mail and have only used it 3 times, but it is making my hair fall out so I contacted the company. The customer service representative was not able to tell me if the products contained gluten; however, she did direct me to the ingredient list. I very quickly discovered that all their products contain this nasty substance (wheat)…hence the itchy scalp and hair loss.

I’m sitting in front of my computer and can’t decide whether I should keep my trial set of OOKISA hair system. I love how my heir looks like, it has more volume now and I think that I stopped loosing my hair. I’m not sure about the renewing serum though – I don’t know if it works and if I’m ready to keep paying a long dollar for something that may not working. The price is a key issue. I have to decide if I’m ready to pay $90 every two months to have my hair “fluffy”. Maybe I will end buying only shampoo and conditioner, which I really love…

I haven’t used this product nor do i intend to ,it’s too expensive.  The oils that I make for my hair, coupled with vitamins and ingesting flax seed  oil gives me volume and the shine for a fraction of the cost.   For those of you who have lost hair using this product maybe you are allergic to an ingredient in the shampoo.  Most (90%)shampoos contain sodium laureth sulfate which can destroy the scalp.  Unless this shampoo claims it doesn’t contain this ingredient , Its most likely has it in it.  For those women, I would suggest you use shampoos that are all natural (no sodium laureth sulfate or parabens).

I was also looking for reviews, and found quite a few — most with negative opinions, which is rare on review sites. This must be pretty bad stuff. The one that stood out was from a woman who stopped using the product when she started growing hair in places that ladies don’t want it to grow. It appears this product might contain unlisted active ingredients that aren’t even approved for use by females. Perhaps the FDA should get involved here ….

Be careful, ladies! There is no “free trial” on ookisa products, unless you send back to them all the products, even empty, plus the original box, BEFORE of the 30 days! Otherwise, you will be charged on $100.00! If you wanna keep the products, you will only receive the next shipment AFTER you be charged on ANOTHER $100.00. Read the fine print… They do not play clearly with costumers… So you decide!

By the way, the souffle really works! But it is too much expensive to me…

Thanks for the info everyone! I too have wanted to try Ookisa products but was wary. After researching all information, it is just an ad campaign. They state as seen on CNN or CBS News but it is the same ad! Who knows if they are safe to use? My hair was thick and long until I tried various hair products, and styles. Ookisa is tempting but I’ve decided to (-go back to my old stand by-) condition my hair with egg and mayonnaise, braid it nightly, and keeping my scalp moisturized often and covering my hair with scarfs, hats -until- and I hope soon- it grows back!!

ookisa has practiced a cheating business through their advertisement where it mention you will get free sample for 30 days trial but it did not really mention that you need to return it to avoid auto charge in their advertisement. They put this condition in their mail and if you not really pay attention on this mail, you might become a victim of their product. Besides, it will auto charge you for every two month with sending their product to you although you not really order their product. I really feel like how come no law action on this kind of company and i feel really frustrated on this kind of business practise.

I have never posted a comment on any product I’ve used, but felt compelled to do so for Ookisa since I found it to be amazing!I have always had very thin, fine hair and have spent way too much money on so many different products that claimed to grow hair but showed no results. But after using the Ookisa nighttime serum for just a few months, my hair is fuller, thicker with great body and it is actually growing very fast. I love this stuff! I have extremely sensitive skin, however I have never experienced any irritation from this product. I ordered mine from EBay, rather than getting soaked by the Ookisa scam direct from the manufacturer. I plan on using Ookisa nighttime serum until my hair gets to my waist, which won’t take long with this great product.

I got the “free sample” of the OOKISA HAIR 8 loss package of the shampoo, conditioner and serum for hair growth. I’ve used it for about 2 months now and have had NO results. And today when I when online to check my bank balance this company had charged me $89.98 and I have not received any more products or asked for any. STAY AWAY FROM THIS ADVERTISMENT.

I have to agree with Jo Ann. While it states you have 30 days to use the product, the best thing to do is cancel and return the products prior to the end of the 30 days. I really don’t see how a company can expect someone to see results in 30 days, especially with hair products. I paid the $89.98 and have used the products. I did notice that one of my thinning areas did seem to have an increase in hair by using the Nighttime Follicle Renewing Serum. I only wash my hair once or twice a week (not good to wash thinning hair every day unless it’s exceptionally greasy) so I don’t know if the shampoo and conditioner added to the result. HOWEVER, I canceled the account and will use regular shampoo until I can find a proven product for thinning hair that doesn’t cost a fortune.

I would like to know if anyone has actually returned the so called samples and not been charged for additional shipments that they did not order. I ordered the samples for 6.00 and didn’t realize I would be charged 90.00 after 30 days. I kept my box and the number to call. I wonder if I should call earlier than the 30 day trial expiration so I can get it back in the mail in time for them to receive it before the 30 days is up.

Bottom line, I think the result is just going to vary from person to person. I live by the rule that “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is”. There are so many products out there that are FAR less expensive, and can give the same result as what this company claims. It seems to me that too many people are getting ripped off and not getting the results they desire. I think the best bet for anyone would be to contact your physician/dermatologist, and see what product would be best for YOU, as an idividual. I, too, have also heard that the more organic shampoos/conditioners are better for you hair altogether. Also, healthy eating habits, lifestyle, consistancy in diet, viatmins, etc. will also affect your hair growth……. Just a thought……. I almost got sucked in. But when you step back and look at the big picture, there is too much left unsaid.

I have been using this product for about 2 weeks and I do like it very much. My hair is medium texture but I have a lot of it. For many years, I’ve battled losing it evenly all over and it growing back in. Well, the past few months it’s increased and I can’t even fix my bangs to look good anymore. To see my long hair everywhere was freaking me out. I’ve had biopsies, blood work, etc. No clue why it’s happening. I’m in the beauty industry and decided to give it a try. Where you could see the breakage around the hairline, is now growing! I don’t have long strands of hair all over the place or in my tub, brush, etc. My hair is soft and shiny and I do color it. I’m 46 so I suspect some of this is hormone related – add massive stress and bingo! I became desperate though because one more month of this and I would have needed a wig. No, I cannot afford it really, but I will sacrifice something else if it means keeping what I have left on my head. If you can afford it, it’s really a nice set even if it just makes your hair look nicer. Think about all the money you’ve spent so far… and will keep spending.

The only thing that really bugged me is that they ARE making false claims that it grows hair. I think it has properties that are simply slowing the process of it falling but regrowth? Probably not… Time will tell. I also don’t like that there is no information on the products especially the vitamins. I bought those and you can go to the drugstore and buy Stress Tabs… same thing. This has Stinging Nettle Root in it though and that has been used for centuries for many skin disorders, etc. So it might help some but not worth the price or risk if you take medications. Additionally, I would LOVE to see the serum available separately. I do NOT think the whole program is necessary – nice, but not necessary.

I feel for all of you… I’m fighting this all the way but it’s a scary thing. Hang in there and at least give it a try.

By the way, I have extremely sensitive, allergy-prone skin with both eczema and rosasea. This does not irritate me in the least but don’t use too much! Use only what you need. You may only need 4 pumps if your hair is baby fine.

I wish you much success and health in the New Year! Be well.

If you will read the comments that rave about the product here— they are all written in a very particular style– ie, the style that PR/ copy editors use to sound “real” when ranting about how “great” a product is. But if you read them all– you’ll notice the “advertising agency” style to the writing. They’re all fake. People who work for the company google the product and when they find a site like this that is looking for “what do you think?’ they chime in with more false claims. This product is BS. Stay away.

I used this product for the trial period of 30 days. It made my hair look amazing for the first two weeks. I hated the shampoo but loved the conditioner. I returned it before the 3o day trial so they would not bill me and found that a month or two after stopping it’s use, my hair started falling out and getting really brittle. I dont know if this is a direct result of stopping it’s use or if it’s just me but I think my hair was fine before I started and wish I hadn’t tried it.

Alexis December 28, 2009 at 6:18 pm

I’m not raving, I’m not endorsing. Simply stating my personal experience with my health and the product. I’m not an advertising exec and I do not have time to BS… Ultimately the reason I stay away from such things. I simply thought my experience would be helpful. My 2nd and last post… sorry ladies. This is a serious issue and I won’t be put down by anyone. Best of luck to all you. This is really a most difficult thing to deal with.

FYI – I DID return the product. Although I saw some improvement, it wasn’t enough to keep at that price. Nice product but I need to see a huge improvement to buy anything. This is just too expensive for something that isn’t so promising. They also wouldn’t accept the mousse or vitamins back. I never opened them… Now THAT is total BS! 🙂

I wish you all a healthy, Happy 2010!

Hi
I didn’t try it, and I don’t want to say any other product will actually grow hair. But you can find products with the same ingredients (including gluten free) in any big health food store…and definately cheaper priced! I have thin long hair, and used to buy the same brand for over 20 years-then they changed the formula-so I am still searching for “the right one” now. But I don’t do “chemical” ingredients, so my hair is better looking than most people’s.

January 11, 2009 – I have been using all 3 products from Ookisa since August 2008. I have begun getting new hair growth on the top of my scalp as my hair stylist/colorist claims she is seeing new hair growth and has shown the hair growth to me! I use the shampoo, conditioner and night-time spray on my scalp every day. I plan to continue using all 3 products! It takes time so you have be very patient and consistent with all of the products.

I, too, fell for the 30-day free trial for $5.95 and received the items today. When I saw that you would automatically be billed the “discounted rate” of $89.95 a month, well that is too much for me, and it was sounding more and more like one of those old book/record club nightmares you never seem to be able to get out of. I did not get the souffle item that everyone seems wild about and that might have tempted me to try it. Anyway, I called and was put on hold for a while but finally spoke to someone who tried in many ways to get me to try it. I just told them I didn’t want anything where I would automatically be billed for something when I didn’t even know if I liked the product. They told me that I didn’t have to buy it every month but that I could have 60-90-120 day orders…no thanks; then a real miracle, they are offering a sale next week where I could buy this for $39.95 for life. I could get this $50/month less than what you are supposedly charging forever? Now I really don’t want it. If that isn’t scam-based, what is!? I guess they really sell the package for $39.95 but if you like it and are stupid enough to pay the $89.95, that’s what you get billed. So, if you do like it, call right away, tell them you want to return it and get it for $39.95. If it had been $39.95/month it MIGHT have made me try it but I still hate the selling tactics. In this economy, we all need to be in charge of what we buy; not the other way around. I do worry that they will continue to bill me and that I will have to go to extraordinary lengths to get it settled though they say not. I am really sorry I fell for it though, as I said, I did not try it. It’s up to you…but don’t pay full price.

Do not trust these people they lie. This free trial will cost you 89.95. They kept telling me it was free, but you end up paying. they say keep trying it until your trial is up and charge you. I was quoted a price and when I called back was given another price. this trial is not free. be aware.

I am surprised with all the negative comments out there. I do think that their advertising is terrible. They should be upfront with the way they bill customers. However, I am smart enough to realize that when someone states that something is free, it isn’t. I do not have hair falling out and it is not very thin, it is just super fine. I have been using the product for eight months and my hair has never looked better. It is the best shampoo and conditioner combination that I have ever used. I was able to make my last purchase on ebay, if it weren’t for that I could not afford it.

I tried the Ookisa offer and the only thing I gained was losing time and money and a constant struggle with their customer service.

The product itself, the intro kit of shampoo, conditioner, and the “serum”, did absolutely nothing. I noticed no difference from if I would have used a bottle of 99-cent Suave that would have lasted 10 times longer.

I called to return the kit in plenty of time, you have 30 days to return the product even if the bottles are empty, and I have been fighting with customer service ever since.

I shipped back the product on December 22nd, 2009 and to-date, January 25th, 2010 the company claims they haven’t received my return. I shipped using just the standard US post office and had no tracking info on my package, all I have is my initial receipt from the post office that states what city/zip code the packaged was shipped to and how much it cost.

After fighting back and forth like 2 phones calls and 6 emails with Ookisa’s clueless customer support, they finally told me I could send them my receipt as proof of shipment. They stated they are busy and could be backed up in processing the return; in the meantime I will be charged like $80 b/c they are slow or are a scam operation and really did receive my package and are just not crediting my account.

I would suggest NO ONE to buy from this company. The claims are false and trying to get your “no worry money back guarantee” is a joke!

…I’m still fighting with getting a credit and to not be charged for the product I returned.

This company is a SCAM. The products don’t work any better than Nioxin or any of the other companies that claim to make hair thicker. Thick hair is a result of genetics and lifestyle/diet. The problem with OOKISA is that once they charge you for their products, you can never return them and get your money back no matter what! Once you are outside of their trial period (read the fine print), you can never get a refund on any future shipments. I had two shipments come to me and after those two, I decided that I didn’t want to pay $83.55 (which is what the total would come out to with overinflated shipping) for shampoo and conditioner. I called them and told them that I would return this newest shipment unopened and unused and asked for a credit to my card. They said they can cancel all future shipments, but that they couldn’t credit anything they had already shipped to me. Once they charge your card, you can never get your money back. I’ve never heard of a company that doesn’t allow you to return an unused product back, EVER! Don’t get sucked in. Once you order from them, you will never be allowed to return and get your money back after the trial period.

I think it’s obvious that this is a total scam. I have thick hair but I really want more volume. I saw the advertisment and decided to google for more info . Even though I haven’t been to the OOKISA site, I am smart enough to know that they would ask for a credit card to give me future charges without being upfront and honest. A lot of “free trial offers” do it that way. Everything in life has small print. READ IT!

If this product was so great, they would give actual free offers with no credit card needed. Knowing their product is so great that people would HAVE to come back and order because it is that fabulous.

I think all of these good reviews are from the OOKISA company. They all have the same format. They sound like all other info-mercials.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from this. This is 2010… where nobody cares about anybody. It’s all about the mighty buck. People dream of ways to screw the simple folk out of their money so they can live in nice houses and drive luxurious cars. In the grand scheme of things, you don’t matter. Only your money does.

This is my first post and I am def uncomfortable even talking about my hair loss in this type of forum.. I am 47 have 4 kids very busy life style in good shape and health all except for my hair….I have Hashimotos and switched to Levoxly 4 mos ago and my hair is def getting worse. I am switching back to Armour which I took for years with no problem. I am def going through menopause but am seeing great Drs who practice natural hormone therapy. However even these Drs don’t understand hair loss. I have had gradual thinning since about 30 but in the past year it has really accelerated. My mom has really thin hair and I think I have the genetic link to have it. Mine is soooo thin on the sides and temple I really am almost bald……so scary….I have hair extensions so no one can really tell but I am panicked.. I will go to any Dr anywhere that is knowledgeable but I prefer an open minded not traditionalist since that is not my other Drs of choice. I know the extensions are not helping but there is no way I can take them out now…..I love reading the blogs it is comforting. Just wondering if anyone has been to someone they thought helped them and would reccomend to me.thx 🙁 I live in Atlanta)

would bill me 90.00. Called company, to late to cancel. Received products, emptied them into new bottles, sent empties back (making sure I wrote the return code they gave me all over pkg) then used products.
I LOVE THEM! i was really shocked how well they work. even my hairdresser (for 5 years) told me my hair was feeling nice and thicker.
I really thought this was a big scam. but now i find myself wanting to buy these products but 1. still feel the company is underhanded do not want to do business with them and 2. do not know if i want to spend that much money

I ordered what I thought was a trail bottle of shampoo, conditioner, and night repair for shipping of 5.95…thinking if I like the product I would order more. To my surprise on Saturday when I opened my email there was the order form along with the NEW agreement….of charging my card 89 something every 60 days. After calling their 877-466-5472 number and talking to a few rude customer service people I decided to do some checking online. They have numerous complaints against them with the Better Business Bureau of CA. I called back on last time explaining that I AM going to BBB if I have to pay anything…. FINALLY….they said they would not charge the 5.95 shipping I could keep their product and I won’t be charged anything EVER…. I spoke with Veronica at extension 586…she at least wasn’t rude and did help. Her supervisors name is Chris and he can be reached at extension 222 for those that want to complain… Hopefully I won’t have to update this with another complaint..

I suggest calling, calling and calling until you get it resolved…tell them about all the complaints they have online…I did!

Hi Ladies,
I am a happy woman who has finally regrown the 40% hair loss she experienced. Back in the bad old days I tried EVERYTHING. And, sorry, but NOTHING worked. There was no Magic Pill.
I was also chronically sick (undiagnosed) off and on for many years.
Here’s what happened: I took a good look at my life. Once I slogged through the self pity portion, I realized that I was STRESSED OUT. This should have been obvious information at the time, but in our society we are praised for sucking it up and pushing on. I also realized that I was particularly sensitive to stress (it’s just how I’m wired). (The book The Highly Sensitive Person helped me understand and stop beating up on myself).
So, I gradually restructured my life, as best I could in every moment, to be as stress free as possible. I let go of projects and people, and out dated belief systems that made me feel bad. I let go of being a vegetarian (which was emotionally difficult but physically necessary for ME). I reinvented myself.
My hair was just one symptom of me being very out of touch with my body. (I have a long history of anorexia). I had to reclaim my life, whether those around me appreciated what I was doing or not. I had to save my own life.
The book Healing Back Pain by Dr. Sarno M.D. was a book that helped me release my athsma (it says back pain, but it’s helpful for all chronic pain and illness). It is all about the Mind and Body connection.
This information may not appeal to everyone, but to those it does resonate with – START NOW! Your hair loss is a message that you are out of balance in your life, and you can only roll along lopsided for so long before you crash.

Yes I can truly relate to stop all stress forms in your life. A lot of us are not wired to suck it up but due to all the 21st century media, and fast gadgets, we are taught and told to be In you should be on the go all the time. NO! Your body is a temple and you should treat it like so. Since my hair loss, I have dropped out of school for the remainder of the semester and have not run out do to the latest and greatest in thing. And eat lots of veggies and fruits mother earth.

Hi, I actually have thick hair like my mother. But as she has aged it has gotten so thin I started to panic so have been checking out thickening shampoos. I started to use Moroccan Method shampoos. After a few months I was getting my hair cut and my stylist says “is your hair falling out?” I say no thinking have I not noticed my hair falling out. He says “well you have lot’s of baby hair coming in” Since then (this is two years ago) I have switched over to Boost shampoo, which seems to keep me thick as well. But it was with Moroccan Method that the hair dresser noticed new hair growth.

I too fell for the Ookisa scam. I liked the shampoo but when I used the serum it made my hair too limp even though I washed it with the shampoo in the morning. These products are Overpriced and do not produce the results advertised. I was wondering if anyone would recommend a proven good shampoo for thinning hair. I have used nioxin for years but don’t see any real results.

I ordered the “free trial” from this company, and was charged about $6 for the shipping, which was fine when I opened the boxed and found a complete set of large bottles of Shampoo/Conditioner/Serum. Shipping was fast and I was satisfied with the customer service during the shipping process. However, The product did not seem to work. I didn’t even experience much volume, which is the main reason I ordered the product in the first place, as well as the possibility for hair regrowth. In addition to the dissatisfying results, I received an email from them letting me know that after the 30 day trail my account would be charged over $60 for the product… so much for free trial, right? I called them a week before the cut off date of the “30 day trial” when I would be charged, and they told me they would be sending out a shipping box for me to return the product. Why would they want used product returned to them?! Over all, I found this system, the companies policies, and their “trial” to be a hoax and a joke. Please don’t waste your time… the only effect that they have on your head will be an over whelming headache.

I order OOKISA product twice, and it does not work.
I am an Asian girl, I have very fine hair, I thought OOKISA was going to work for my hair since OOKISA is a Japanese brand.

However, I tried more than two weeks, my hair is still very soft and flat. It actually gives me a lot of dandruff at the beginning, and then slowly i guess my sclap started to adopt to OOKISA, so dandruff is gone, but I still have a little every single day.

My advice to people who are interested in OOKISA:

Remember the last date for the free trail.
I forgot to call OOKISA to cancel the free trail 2 days, and I was charged for the product $99.95. So remember people, if you are going to cancel it, cancel it early before they charge you.

I tried calling customer service and explain that I had forgotten to call earlier because I was busy working, but they will not do anything about it.

So, I learned from my lesson, I will never do any free trails anymore.

This product has done nothing good for my hair. In fact, my hair fall even worsened and has become alarmingly fine after using the products for two weeks. Worst, Ookisa kept charging me card even if I have not given any authority for it to do that nor have I placed any orders after the trial package that I received from them. Don’t get duped by these leeches out there to steal your hard earned bucks.

OOKISA marketing advertising on line is shady and unclear. This is a product that after they have your credit card number to pay for your shipping and after you receive the trail products with the shipping slip inside the box , you discover you are a memeber and have to pay $89.99 afer the 30 day trail period.
After I received the trail products and read the packing slip information . I called to return it ASAP. You need to get a number to write on the box before you return it to OOKISA or you will be charged to your credit card number they have on file. This is a great way to lose the credibility of the product and company. Don’t get duped.

i just recently fell for the a scam VERY similar with Dermitage Products and sure enough, their trying to pull the EXACT scam. they say free trial of the product is great and you only have to pay shipping costs. and you get the ENTIRE product in the mail for only shipping, but they maintain your credit card on file and your thrown into the automated system of getting billed $89.95 monthly for a whole new supply. if you don’t return the empty bottles of the “free trial” you used. its rediculous and i think a lot of them are starting to get a hold of this selling gimmick and are running with it as long as they can. im officially no longer buying anything if it sounds too good to be true. i’d wait for the product to be sold in stores and have other people “trial” it out before i do anything again. eventually it’ll hit the stores if its good enough. lesson learned. the product that i personally got suckered in for actually does work tho. but thats not the point. better customer service and not scamming me would’ve gotten me to become a residual customer… but now, they lost me for life. i won’t even re-purchase their product even after it worked in hopes that others would feel the same way so they can realize they can’t get away with stuff like this. its insane?! we don’t have to put up with stuff like this, and if we all have an issue and bitch enough the right way, they will discontinue.. they only do it b/c they are getting away with it and no one is standing by saying anything. by not buying their product or by not re-purchasing, you’re doing something! and something is better than nothing.. or it will continue…

I just called to cancel and told them I hadn’t seen results from the trial period. She said I may need it longer, and extended my trial by 2 weeks. Then I told her if I DID decide to buy this product it would be through Amazon.com because I could get the shampoo/conditioner via that site for $39.95. She put me on hold, came back and said they would match the price.

I just bought this 3-product kit of shampoo, conditioner and serum. After using it for less than 2 wks, I feel that the shampoo & conditioner has made my gray hair shinier, but I haven’t noticed any thickening nor new growth yet. I was using a L’Oreal sulfate-free shampoo & conditioner, and this was only $6/ea from CVS and seemed to be about the same as the Ookissa. I will be returning my empties prior to Sept 23 (their deadline) and may dump what’s left into some empty bottles. It is great to read actual customer/user opinions when you’re not sure about a product!!! Thank you all for being so honest.

I think the main reason Japanese have such beautiful hair is probably their diet. Lots of fish and soy.

Thanks for the comments. I’ve learned my lesson(s) with free trials. Don’t do it. If there is a way you can just purchase the product without having to deal with free trial nonsense..then do it. FREE TRIALS ARE ALL SCAMS..The purpose is to get your credit card number and keep charging you for as long as they can get away with it until you catch on to the game, and then still it’s a song-and-a-dance to get out of it. I’M TELLING YOU…DO NOT USE FREE TRIALS. IF THE COMPANY WAS HONEST, they would just ask for your name, address and the one-time shipping and delivery fee. There wouldn’t be any hidden terms and conditions. Everything would be “in you face” with a money back guaranty. I am so glad I finally learned my lesson(s) with free trials. My advice, buy the product out-right, and if you don’t like it, toss it or give it away.

STAY AWAY FROM FREE TRIALS

I really like this ookisa product… ive only been using it for about 3 weeks and my hair seems stronger, shinier and it has a much thicker texture than before. Yes of course I was annoyed when I read about the 89.95 monthly billing but I was not surprised. I mean one would have to be extremely ignorant to not expect some sort of “scam” related to an on-line “free-trial!” So I was planning on keeping everything and continue to be billed with no regrets and if in the future I want to cancel then fine. If something is too expensive for you than that is your business and it has nothing to do with the product and I think that this is the main reason most people are writing negative comments. If you could afford it or perhaps if it was “cheaper” for you I’d imagine you wouldn’t be so critical of the product. Of course now that I’ve read about the price matching and that I can get the product on ebay or amazon I am going to call and get the same deal or cancel. Its really not a “scam” its just business. It truly is your responsibility to read everything, even if it is in fine print. All I know is that so far I love OOKISA and my new hair! Hopefully it does the same for others. And the hair snapping off comments are a little over the top. Its probably a health issue because it would be happening to more people and Im sure that the company would have been shut down a long time ago. So, I suggest everyone that is or was interested in this product try it!!! Just be smart. Duh.

Ookisa is a scam. I accepted a free trial sample and received nothing. I was charged for the psotage and then almost $100 for the product that never arrived.
I called “CS” and got a teenager who sounded bored and barely capable. He refused to cancel the “subscription”..the one that was not made known until AFTER MY CARD WAS CHARGED…refused to refund. I have read a couple other reports claiming that people got packs of literature to validate a tracking receipt and then were charged for stuff they did not get.

I don’t mind trying new products. But let’s get real. It take many months for any change in your hair to be noticeable. Once it passes the scalp, hair is dead and cannot be “repaired” by anything. It can be patched, protected and have damaged “covered,” but it can’t be repaired. Notice the ookisa trail period is 30 days. Get real. Hair grows aobut 1/4 inch amonth. Most people woudl not see real change for at least a year!

I felt like I did not lose so much hair. I only tried it the once and then didn’t want to keep paying the high price. Now I’m using Wen hair product and my hair is heathier than ever. I have done a lot of research on hair loss due to my own thinning hair (and hair all over the floor, my clothing, etc.). Most shampoos contain Sodium lauryl sulfate. This is said to be connected with skin and scalp irritation in the American Journal of Toxicity. My research said that it is the same ingredient used in things like floor cleaners. I stopped buying shampoo with this ingredient. My hair is not falling out all over the place anymore. Google it.

I am 42 years old and recently I’ve been noticing that my hair is falling out like never before. I started to look for products and even thought it could be some hormonal change or so. I fricked out every time I had to wash my hair and see a bunch of hair going down the drain! I stoped wasting my time looking for miracles and finally went to the Dermatologist. He ordered a blood work to check my level of FERRITIN and guess what? I am 53% and normal level is 70 up. Low level of Ferritin it could cause hair loss, anemia, among other conditions. Treatment for my hair loss: FERROUS GLUCONATE, ( Iron supplement,27 mg) for 4 months. $2.00 bottle with 100 tablets! He also told me that expensive shampoos and face creams it is a myth. For the face, any good sunblock every day and for your hair CHECK WITH YOUR DERMATOLOGIST before spending money on scams! I hope that can help someone.

Here’s my two cents. I started using this product about six months ago, after I’d experience a sudden, all over, breaking of my hair. It looked awful! I didn’t know why so much of hair, all of a sudden, snapped off – awful! This product has strengthened my hair and it is growing without breaking. I have fine hair and have not noticed new hair growth, but I do know my hair is stronger, healthier and growing without breaking. My credit card is charged $104 each month – so much more than I can really afford. I’d like to find a similar, more affordable shampoo. A shampoo with identical ingredients – It can’t cost so much to make this product.

I’m glad I was able to read everyone comments before I decided if I wanted to order Ookisa. My hair has been falling out for sometime now & I have tried everything. I believe the best way to keep the hair you have, is to use Rogan and take biotin vitamins. I have gone to two different dermatologist and they both recommended I use Rogan twice daily. The only disadvantage, Rogan makes my hair oily. I have fine hair and using any product makes my hair oily. Another suggestion is to not tie your hair when you go to bed and also try not to tie your hair too tight during the day

I am not and advertiser, editor or anything of the sort. I have been using this product for a year and love it. Absolutely love it. This is a high quality product and it makes my thin hair look beautiful.
Now, I also could not afford the high price. So I called their customer service and wanted to cancel. They were very courteous with me and let me know that I can decide how often I want this product, they even reduced the price for me significantly. So now I get this product every three month at a price that I can afford.
For those of you who think this is a scam, call them and talk to them. I have had a very good experience with them and my hair loves this product!

hi all, im a black woman and i sent for the free trial, btw, sometimes its worth cancelling the card before the trial period is over, its actually simple….this is MY reassurance….i must say with this product, im impressed… i used the shampoo and conditioner 2 days ago and my hair looks good. ive even had a couple of compliments…im going to continue to use and see if theres future results. in this one shampoo ive notice my hair a little fuller..i will be utilizing this product within the next 30 days because spending nearly 100 bucks on my hair is unheard of but if i continue to see the healthiness im seeing today, i will continue to use it…. will post another comment in a few weeks… good luck all….

I ordered this product and when I received the e-mail with the monthly cost, I immediately phoned to cancel my order…oops, seems you cannot cancel the order since they ship it out lickity split! So I phoned once again to get a RMA# (return merchandise authorization) and alas you cannot get a number until you receive the merchandise. So you MUST spend more money to send it back, even if you don’t try it! SCAM!!!!

Wow!! I also requested the sample of the “3” products. I tried the shampoo and condition “once”…my hair felt good, but I did not try the serum.
I totally agree with the above comments, which suggest that their sales tatics are suspicious.. I too am an african american, and we don’t shampoo our hair daily because it would leave our hair TOO dry. So, one week I go to a great beautician, and the next week I shampoo & condition my own hair. So if I only try their products 2 times a month, billing me $89.95 would be rediculous. SO, I called the company and told them I DID NOT want to billed in advance, that if I decide I like the product I would order when I’m ready to do so. She tried a variety of ways to get me to order future products. My final answer was NO. I don’t trust them, so I called my bank and cancelled my Mastercard- Debit card to prevent them from EVER debiting my account. Whewww!! So if you are worried about them taking money out of your account, called your bank and cancel your card & have a new one issued.

well all I have to say is as soon as they asked for my credit card I errased everything I typed in. I once did that with tooth whitener and they just keep sending it to you and charging your credit card. NO THANKS

Hi there! I, too, was somewhat sceptical about this offer. I, too, questioned the price. I was very interested in the claim, and though I have not had a big problem with thinning or falling hair, I am getting older and want to keep the volume of hair that I have. I ordered the free trial and then did not use the product for a year. I was only charged once but I called to cancel future shipments.

When I finally picked up the product to use it after running out of my Wen, I noticed that my hair seemed calm and satisfied. I have mixed ethnic hair, about five different textures, but ALL of my hair seemed to enjoy the shampoo and conditioner. I have used the product now for the fourth time. I am finding that I do not need to follow up with any styling product or leave in daily moisturizer as I used to. My hair has an excellent texture and shine, and it even seems the grays are not as noticeable!

I must admit, getting this product on the internet made me a little leary, but it has paid off… I wonder if the company will ever come down in price or if there is another place I can get it cheaper… But, I like this product.

I have thin silky hair by nature. I have found the best way to thicken it up is to be nice to it and take hair nutrients, like silica formulas. I can see with the Ookisa product the best result is achieved by taking a person who has abused their hair, and giving them a way to treat it well. Of course that works. A good admonishment from a hairdresser would work equally as well. I mean, this is like taking a group of people who haven’t been flossing and showing them how flossing can keep their teeth cleaner and whiter longer.

I don’t feel the need to thicken my hair. Mostly I was stricken by the ridiculousness of an Ookisa ad that just popped up on my Yahoo screen and I had to comment. It had before pictures of people with semi-greasy hair from the back view – most of the hair was pulled to the front and a comb was used to show a line of exposed scalp. In the after photos it looks like the hair has been freshly colored, fluffed up with a blow dry and mousse, all the hair is combed to the back and no hair is put to the front. What a joke. I would not be duped into this in a million years.

DON’T TOUCH THIS COMPANY!!!
after reading all the bad reviews, I spent some time and tried to find more info online about this company. so I type in the company address which shows on ookisa website- In fact there’s another teeth whitening ads rip-offs, and eyeglasses, and all others… It seems like when one is exposed, they pop up under a different name.
The scam artist behind it(Jesse Willms) operates as JDW Media, LLC with a variety of addresses including this one(ookisa):
5300 Ontario Mills Parkway Unit 400
Ontario, CA 91764

http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2011/05/jessewillms.shtm
FTC Charges Online Marketers with Scamming Consumers out of Hundreds of Millions of Dollars with ‘Free’ Trial Offers
“According to the FTC, Willms and his companies obtained consumers’ credit or debit card account numbers, by enticing them with bogus “free” or “risk-free” trial offers that supposedly required only small shipping and handling fees, and also promised phony “bonus” offers just for signing up. Consumers had no reason to believe they would be charged for the trial product or the extra bonus products, but they were often charged for the “free” trial plus a monthly recurring fee, typically $79.95. Consumers were also charged monthly recurring fees for the so-called bonus offers. Although the defendants offered a money-back guarantee, consumers were often unsuccessful in canceling the charges or obtaining refunds, and the process involved time-consuming phone calls and other steps that made the deals far from risk-free, the FTC complaint alleged.”

ladies, use google search, type in the company address- you’ll be shocking to find out the real truth- ” is ookisa a scam?”

I read these posts and felt compelled to write. I went to the dermatologist about 2 years ago, concerned about thinning hair. She ordered me spironolactone. It is a water pill/ I have to get my blood checked twice a year to make sure my potassium isn’t too high, which I’ve never had a problem with, and when I first started taking it my blood pressure did drop a bit-because it is a water pill. But it has worked. Something about blocking hormones or something like that. I also had quite the problem with ingrown facila hair and that has stopped completely. It has to be prescribed from your dr and I’m sure it isn’t right for everyone. But if you really are concerned with it-check with your dr. and see if it can help you.

Go to google and type in OOkisa reviews and you’ll see what s SCAM this is. As soon as I ordered this morning, I knew I should have checked reviews so as soon as the conformation came in, I e-mailed them back (within 10 minutes) and told them to cancel the Free sample. I told them why. Then I called AE and ask them what I could do. They said the charge already came in but that they could put a block on my CC so that Okisa could not charge anything in the future. You might try that.

Last summer I took a trip to St. Louis, MO. I was not looking forward to the humidity there. I took a trip to Sephora and asked one of the sales girls for a suggestion on shampoo and conditioner for frizzy hair,
Immediately she suggested Shielo Hydrate Conditioner. She assured me that this product would work! I took her advice and bought the shampoo and also the Shielo Antioxidant Leave in Protector she suggested. I have to say Shielo products worked so well I now use them everyday! My hair did not get frizzy at all and stayed styled and was super shinny! My hair is fine and has some curl to it. It takes the frizz out and gives body.

About a year ago, after grappling at straws with hair loss, I took the bite and ordered the “trial” shampoo, conditioner and serum. I used the trio for one month and cancelled future orders. I guess I didn’t have a problem with added exspence because the cancellation was withing the allot time. I didn’t cancell because the product didn’t work or seem to work, I cancelled because it was just do bloody exspensive. I have allot of hair but it is so baby fine and with age, yes it is getting finer and I see more hair being lost when I comb. I started out using the product every other day and the serum at night and I did notice that within two weeks, there was a change. Less hair on my comb, and it looked healthier. My problem is, ” your product is just too damned exspensive”. Unless you are someone who can burn money hand over fist, it is very difficlut to afford. Perhaps the company that makes this product should keep this in mind, when they have their next sales/production/profit meeting. As for the product itself, I think it helped; maybe not cured the loss of hair, but it helped lessen the loss.

I have used the products now for several months. I’m not crazy about the shampoo, it leaves my hair very tangled (which my hair has a tendency to do).
Even the conditioner doesn’t detangle as much as I need — but since my hair loss is in 1 spot, on the very top front of my head, I put their condition there & massage it in – it has peppermint, I think, & tingle & feel really good – & I use pantene volume conditioner on the rest. (I also use pantene volume shampoo, as far as I’m concerned pantene makes some of the best drugstore products). The OOKISA MOUSSE if wonderful. It really does make your hair look full, & it holds w/out being super sticky. Also, I use the serum almost every night – it tingles a bit, but I kind of like it. Has it made new hair grow? No, I don’t think so. But I no longer seem to be finding stray hairs all over my pillow, my clothes, in the shower, etc. Also, I took use Toppik (I’m kind of obsessive about anyone seeing my scalp), but I use the serum at night also. I just kind of masssge it in w/ my fingers, & I only use it on the area I need. I find that as long as I massage it in & spread it around w/ my fingers, it doesn’t really make a huge mess at all – not anything like minoxidil did when I tried it, which was disgustingly sticky & burned my scalp.

Hey, I’ve been using the product over the past couple of years. My hairdresser has commented how my hair is much healthier and how I can grow it longer now without it looking like straw. However, the price of $90 is pretty high. I contacted the company and was going to cancel even though I didn’t want to…they told me that since I have been a customer for so long. They could continue to ship me at 1/2 price. That’s $44.95 and for me it lasts about 3 months…I think that is pretty good.
