Hey Y,
I haven't read all of your blogs but the ones I have seen I like. I think you are very positive and strong (kudos to your fiance and mother as well for being so supportive in your journey to help us strangers cope). I do have some questions about your "girls". Do you have your hair custom made or do you pefer the ready made? Synthetic vs human hair? What type of hair loss do you have? (I have severe diffuse hair loss but insurance won't help me out since testosterone is elevated, so they consider it cosmetic vs medical no matter how bad it is, apparently anndrogenic alopecia is not as devastating for a female as areat or chemo related losses) anyways I have a few wigs (some cheap synthetics which look synthetic) a $300 synthetic I hate and I'm not sure where to go with things.... I think yours looks great, and wonder if you sleep/shower in it or if you have ever got vacuum wigs or if you find them secure or itchy (I have burning scalp issues that make me want to rip the wigs off). I'm thinking about shaving and getting a vacuum wig for like 6k but its a huge investment that I'm afraid will be too hot and heavy.....you can bump this to the appropriate forum if that's better

And thank you for reading the whole think lol

You are so awesome for sharing. Thank you!!! I am considering a wig, but it scares me. I am single and 41, so it makes it all the more stressful if say I were on a date.

I was curious about the PRP treatments and wondered if you've ever tried ACell along with it. Have you heard anything about the success rate? I don't see very many experiences posted..

@moonstruck - Thank you!
@miamisun - Thank you! Yes good for that alternate identity trip to vegas LMAO
@Katsa - I actually do own 2 Milanos, and one of them does have the freedom cap. For me the freedom cap doesn't work well, It doesn't provide the ease I require to pull some hair in the front, I do better with the WiGrip since I have placement control with it. I was actually thinking of throwing my experimental bangs into my Milano or my Freeda wig because I don't wear those normally, so if it's a bomb it won't be devastating or anything. I don't own the pony wig, but I did try it on once when I went to their showroom with a friend and I found it to be comfortable and easy to wear in a … Pony LOL hence their name for it , it's rather neat because it does clip up well and wigs are not generally comfortable worn in a clipped up state, at least not for me
( it changes the weight distribution of the wig ) but that one is made for that for sure. For awhile I thought about getting the pony wig for working out and then eventually resolved myself to just looking like crap at the gym in my beanie hat :) Who knows, maybe eventually I'll get one and put bangs (a la Zooey ) into it for a fun easy updo wig. My fear is ending up with another closet wig that doesn't get worn. That style would be the perfect style for today though.. Farmer's Market Day!

Happy Saturday!

That is a cute cut you're modeling, now you're making me rethink Zooey D. bangs! :)

I have a Milano pony pre-cut with manageable swoopy side bangs. I freaking love the thing. It's so much easier to wear than my Follea, I literally pop it on and go. Not like my Follea takes that much work, but I love it for the weekends, and that it looks nicer pulled back from my face than my Follea does. Because of the bangs. And it's a color that I've always wanted for myself.
So my suggestion, get yourself to Milano and buy yourself a cheaper wig styled with bangs and give it a test drive! If you love the look get another(!) Follea or have one of yours cut.

I am not sure how much folks would notice drastic changes in length (so far no one has remarked on me wearing my two wigs of different lengths) but I think they WOULD notice differences in bangs. So I, personally wouldn't feel super comfortable mixing up different wigs with various bang styles at work. Hmm. Maybe I could get over it. Something to think about.

Thank you guys for ALL the amazing comments and feedback! Very much appreciated and so helpful to me to hear everyone's thoughts. Your support and advice is incredible… thank you!

I'm always teetering around this bang issue. More so now I think since my recent visit from the shed fairy, as me looking at my hair and thinking "Well you slimy little, good for nothing bas****"

I agree with the suggestions of cutting bangs into a lesser used wig and trying that around the house, perhaps while mopping the floor, which I seem to be doing twice a day lately, me likes a clean floor.. what can I say? :)

I know it would be a huge adjustment to get used to that reflection, but everything is an adjustment at first and anything we really want is worth working towards and fighting for within the confines of our mind, but make no mistake, my mind has been known to throw up some heavy duty steel walls and bars. But, I never thought I'd be able to wear an wig... and Volia! There one sits on my head today. When I go to get my hair cut the next time I'm going to bring one of my "Behind The Sweater" wigs, you know the ones.. The ones that never get to see the light of day for one reason or another. I got a few of those.

As "N" pointed out there never is only one reservation about anything, and the ability to wear a bang'd wig isn't the only thing holding me back from shaving my head, there is always the reality that my head will be totally shaved, yea that's a reservation too! But if I want total freedom I have to be willing to take the road not always the easiest to travel... In time.

Bang Bang Ladies! Thank you All ! XOXO MUAH

@Ciella - Fringe benefits indeed!

@Halias - Bang Bang, Hope you love your new bangs!

@Jen - Lets test that pink fluffy clown wig theory.. I'll be right back. You lucky bang wearing duck.

@Fina - I think the glasses helped the hair color one me, it's really too dark, it's pretty much black. My eye color is like the color of tree sap, it's too light for the hair, ha ha.

@Erin - regarding your question of the pricing at Follea, I'm not exacting sure but I think the wigs start at around $1700 for the shortest length in their Aero-2 line and go up from there.

@N - It's true, no matter how much progress we make moving on, there is always some crap pulling us back or holding us down it seems. Nothing is ever as simple as it seems, and we have to give up something to get something often times.

@Mycurlyhair - :)

@Annette - Oh you are a banger! Which gives your potential future wig wearing an extra bonus.

@Rachel Jean - I'm going to try the clown hair and the pink fluffy wig that Jen suggested all at the same time… be right back. Congrats on your topper wearing success and high five for having a supportive hubby. I love that.

@Kelly - The color is fun for _____ i'll fill in the blank. Halloween. Cher Convention. A party at 123 Mockingbird Lane. It's just way too dark for me, but it's so cool some gals actually liked it.

@Angie T - I always knew my dog was on to something :)

@StaceyG68 - Bang Bang!

@Linda - I decided not to wear wigs while working out because I just couldn't get comfortable with the idea. Steel bars remember? I fought with that one for so long, but really it was so much easier to just wrap my head around looking like crap at the gym… seriously. I wear a beanie cap to workout and I look like yuck, but whatever. It's an hour or so and then I'm out of there. There are people that do workout in their wigs just fine. There is also the issue of the sweat getting on the wig, having to wash it more often and maybe potentially shortening it's life due to extra washings or whatever. Sometimes what women do is buy a cheaper "workout" wig, something they won't miss and that is easily replaceable when it goes boom.

@Cassy - See color references I left to Kelly above LOL - Thank you guys though.

@misscanada - :)

@Jodi - Bangtox - Humm yes! Congrats on your new hair baby you are getting!!! So exciting! I saw your pics in the network, you look amazing with your bangs. hate you. LOL Please keep us posted with your hair wearing journey!

@Lina - 50 shades of grey? I'll PM you my address, since you ARE done with your copy. ;) You are a banging success story, thank you for sharing all of your hair journey and for just being your amazing self!

Well, let's just say, after just finally reading 50 shades of grey (in like a day and a half) the title of your blog really got my attention :-)
Awh yes, the hair shed sick and tired of trying to keep the traitor that wants to leave...
First, I think you are very lovely (bitch - just kidding ;-)
I too haven't sported bangs since elementary school and that was some time ago! When I did shave, which finally forced my wig wearing hand, I had to cut bangs into my wig because she isn't a lace front and if I found the hairline obvious - it was obvious!
I would say I hated the bangs but looking back on it, I was having to get used to wearing hair and bangs at the same time - I so didn't feel like me.
Let me tell you, I got used to the bangs in like 2 weeks and now when I pull my bangs to see what no bangs would look like - now it isn't me?! Oh, roller coaster...
I will say, in my case, and the harsh reality of my personal hair situation is - the buzz, no shed hell has literally saved my spirit / I took at least that huge stress out of my daily routine!
I am not participating in the anxiety filled, self loathing dance of trying to fix whatever is left, just to cover it up.
I think, since you have the luxury of a few wigs, maybe you could put bangs in the one you wear least. That way, it's your colour, your hair and you could wear it around the house and get used to it? No matter how good bangs would look on and do look on you - you gotta get used to the reflection honey.

I think I've gotten to know your little determined self over the last year and whatever you decide, I know you will kick the shit out of it!

Have the best day to you and all my sisters.
Xo

Let me tell you, I got used to the bangs in like 2 weeks and now when I pull my bangs to see what no bangs would look like – now it isn’t me?! Oh, roller coaster…
I will say, in my case, and the harsh reality of my personal hair situation is – the buzz, no shed hell has literally saved my spirit / I took at least that huge stress out of my daily routine!
I am not participating in the anxiety filled, self loathing dance of trying to fix whatever is left, just to cover it up.
I think, since you have the luxury of a few wigs, maybe you could put bangs in the one you wear least. That way, it’s your colour, your hair and you could wear it around the house and get used to it? No matter how good bangs would look on and do look on you – you gotta get used to the reflection honey.

I think I’ve gotten to know your little determined self over the last year and whatever you decide, I know you will kick the shit out of it!

Have the best day to you and all my sisters.
Xo
(Excuse the probable typos – I’m on a bumpy train and my phone screen is small)

I too agree with everyone, LOVE the BANGS on you!!!

I've had bangs for years, I feel i look younger with them. Saves me money on botox for center forehead crease, Bangtox! I've always liked them when wearing a pony tail or top knot gives the look some style.

I was at Follea today getting fitted for my new wig, it was great. Vicka is FANTASTIC!! I'm a dark blonde naturally but I have loads of blonde foils so she is now going to give my very light blonde wig some roots then I'll be back to have her cut and full bangs added. I'm so excited!! A little anxious about color as blonde can sometimes look really fake. We'll see... Xanex to help my mind until I get it.

My hair has been shedding like crazy too, it's so frustrating to see it EVERYWHERE!!! I feel like I'm an overly decorated Christmas tree and I have way too much tinsel hanging off me. Not a good look! I too might shave soon, I have another three treatments of chemo till January so hair is going to continue to shed, so might as well. And, if hair returns it can all grow together.

I wish that none of us had to go through this! Thank you so much Y for starting this site for us all to have a place to bitch and vent.
