I have used rogain for women 2x a day for at least ten years . I wish I had the guts to stop using it because I hate it , makes my hair look dirty all the time need to wash it almost every day and I really wonder if it makes any real difference at all .Hair everywhere falling out . I use to notice peach fuzz in the temple area which keeps going back further now. The right side of my head is thinner and I see no real difference. My scalp is itchy and soar a lot.

I m terrified that after the shedding, no new growth will come in then what? Should I continue Rogaine ? Should I gamble?
I have used monoxidil on and off for a few years. Stopping whenever the shedding starts. Never followed through in the last 4 years and now the bald spots are completely visible. I have cut my hair as short as my fat round face can handle. I feel ugly every second of the day.

I had exactly the same experience as venus. Started losing hair around 18, had an amazing post-pregnancy regrowth that lasted 4 years and then started shedding like crazy about a year ago. Started minoxidil a month ago and only now am transitioning into awful shedding. Venus, if you read this, are there any updates? Post-pregnancy regrowth made me think hormons are to blame but I found no solution yet..

I came upon this discussion after a search bc, even though my doctor recommended I use Minoxidil for women for my hair loss, I seem to be losing MORE hair than ever before. I am very alarmed!

My hair is very fine and has never been very thick... but now that I am older and I'm taking meds for blood pressure, Crohns, and acid reflux, my hair is falling out like crazy and getting very thin due to the meds I take.

It is a "little" comforting to hear that Minoxidil causes initial shedding, but turns around after a few months for many users. (But not all that comforting! LOL) Why don't they say that in the materials???

I'm not sure what I should do at this point. Should I keep using the Minoxidil and risk more hair loss? Or stay with it and hope for the best?

One thing I can say about it that I never see others complain about is that when I apply the liquid to my scalp, my hair is AWRY until shampoo again. Maybe it is bc my hair is fine and thin, but the treatments make my hair all stiff and weird and looking unclean. Thank goodness I work from home! But then... I'm using the knockoff liquid in a vial. Maybe another product has better results with fine hair?

Any suggestions?

Hi,

I have been suffering for hair loss since i was 21. I am 35 now. I have been through a lot of cycles through these years. For eg. when I had my baby at 25, I suddenly had a thick mane which lasted for a good 3 years. Then the hair loss resumed. After which I started on the Minoxidil 2% and again the results were magical. I had amazing hair for the next 3 years. But now its not working anymore. I am very very depressed. I dont know what can I do now.

I switched my birth control a little over two months ago. I switched from my original pill to a mini pill then back to my original (which was stupid, I know). My hair shedding started about two weeks after switching the pill. I know hair shedding is a big side effect of this. It's been over two months and It hasn't gotten any better. I have no bald patches but I can tell that my hair has thinned. I recently went to a dermatologist and she prescribed me with clobetasol propionate topical solution usp .05%. She wants me to put it on my hair twice a week for two weeks. I looked it up however and it does not seem like it is even for what I have (telogen effiluim) . I just don't know if taking it will make it worse (my scalp right now is healthy no rash on it or anything.. Nothing visible.. Just shedding more than normal) .. So I don't know if it will make it worse and not help or if it will help. I don't know if I should wait a month or two and see if the shedding stops. If anyone could help please!

Did you have any blood tests run or a scalp biopsy to rule out any other causes? If not you should definitely get all the blood tests including a ferritin test to rule out any other causes. Hope this helps. Sending good thoughts your way.

Hello, I am 21 years old and have been losing my hair for almost a year. I was on birth control since age 14 and once I started shedding I decided to go off of it to be healthier and try to balance my hormones on my own. I knew I would shed even more after stopping. I have been off it for 5 months and shed so much. I also started rogain for women about 3 months ago and that is also probably causing more shed right now. I pray so hard that I have made the right decision and that one day the post BC pill and rogain dread shed will end and I will be left with no other problems. I barely have any hair.
