I had a custom topper made by Lee Anthony. They are great people, very compassionate and have beautiful quality wigs if that is your need. Lots of human hair products . . . I am relatively new to all of this and have made alot of mistakes with “hair” I’ve purchased prior to finding Lee Anthony – highly recommend them!

Thank you for your response to my question. As I said, I don’t know if a wig is in my future – but I am just planning out all options… I want to “prepare” myself (if that’s even possible) – in case I have to do this. My problem is we are from a little town in Michigan, and I have absolutely NO idea where I would go to get a human hair wig. I’ve checked on the internet – but have no idea if these places are good or not…. Thank you again and I wish each and every one of us peace….. God Bless…..

To Anne – wearing hair doesn’t exactly (for me) put one at peace with the hair loss (especially if the hair one wears comes off every night); but it DOES help put the concerns about it no the back burner (‘out of sight out of mind’!).
It can make you feel like yourself again. My experience.

Ana – I’m in AZ, too. have learned a lot about ‘what’s out there’ the hard way…. the internet is your friend!

I am 43 & have been dealing with alopecia universalis since 13. While I have gone thru a full range of emotions and wish there were a cure. I have decided to take a different approach. I have several wigs and now on this my third cycle of hair loss I want to have some fun with it. I am looking of a tatoo artist to create a hair design for me. I don’t yet know if I will feel comfortable wearing it in public. Just a way to lessen the shock I feel when I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror unexpectedly. Not that I feel ugly, but lets face it. I did not choose this look. I stopped wearing my wigs 5 years ago when my hair started to grow abit, but it never filled in completely and is now almost completely gone. My husband thinks the tatoo is a bad Idea. But this is not about him now is it.

I have been twice to a place specializing in wigs,toppers,etc. Both times I felt horrible when I walked out , empty-handed, as the “professionals” seemed oblivious to the fact I was devestated just walking in their front door! Plus, they tried to sell a very expensive package without showing videos, photos, etc., of anyone who wearing the topper. I asked about a full wig and was given a Kate Gosselin look alike which would have been great for Halloween! So, I then ordered 3 styles from a well-known mail order house- oops, no. Back they went! Then ordered 3 from HSN- nope, back they went! If anyone knows of a good place to buy wigs in or near Chicago, please share! After watching Wendy Williams and all her wigs and her ease with them I would love to own one or two or three……..

I just have a question for the ladies that have finally had to get wigs… Do you feel “better?” Are you now “at peace?” I don’t know if I will have to get a wig – it may be in my future. Right now, I’m still able to “hide” my scalp with my hair – but I have no idea how long that will last. I just want to be AT PEACE… I’m so sick of worrying and being sick to my stomach… I want to know that there IS life after losing my hair and maybe… just maybe…. a wig can do that for me…. someday….
