I went in for a consultation for low laser hair therapy for my thinning hair. This particular place claims Fergie is using the llht for her thinning hair. I wonder if it is true or just a sales pitch.

Fergie appears to have a condition called telogen effluvium. I have recently been diagnosed by a trichologist, dermatologist and dr with this. I am no expert but i have learnt that severe stress, crash dieting, fever, and childbirth are some of the reasons which can cause a shock to the body causing this condition. The hair will normally fall out for 3 months, it may even take 3months after the shock occured for the hair to actually start shedding. In some aggresive cases it may last 6-9 months. Personally, my hair has been falling out for about 5 months, but there is light at the end of the tunnel, i have alot of fine regrowth growing back. So fortunately this can be reversed. People suffering from telogen effluvium will notice diffuse hair loss which appears as if the hair is thinning in sections or all over, women in particular may loose hair which resembles a widening of the part, or several parts across the top of the head.

She has the same pattern of baldness that I have–that’s exactly what my hair looks like! While I think the press are jerks for exploiting it, I think she’s incredibly brave to go out in public without trying to cover it (or letting any of her personal stylists cover it for her) and I salute her for it!

I think Fergie should stand up and come forward with her condition. Alot of young women look up to celebrities that are positive and womens hair loss is not heard of at all and, and I think she should be an advocate so that more research can be done and more people can become aware of this horrible condition that makes womens self esteem go down, such as myself. GO for it Fergie!!!

i think anyone, celebrity or no celebrity, to go thru hairloss is tough and no one should deserve it. if fergie is going thru this, hope she’s got the ballz to deal with it and i’d think she’s got the tough chick facade to pull off the shave it all off approach.

I don’t feel as bad for Fergie that she is recieving this scrutiny from the media because she’s gotten so much plastic surgery and sent the message to women not to be happy with the way we are born and to try to become the male fantasy. I had a beautiful friend become obsessed with plastic surgery and she honestly said “I want to come out like Fergie did!” It definitely meesed her up. So many of us on this site just want to look “normal” and it doesn’t help when women like Fergie are out there creating unrealistic standards.

Seriously.. everyone goes thru different challenges in his/her lives… what I am interested is how do we solve the problem… seeing celebrities having hair issues doesn’t make me any happier but seeing people trying to sell magazine because of that makes me really sad. I really hope we can truly find a cure for hair loss for all human race. I know how much it consumes my mood and even my life…. we are all entitle to quality of life and certainly hair is the quality I would like to keep! I don’t want to cope… many have told me I should learn to play with the cards that had been dealt to me or learn to live with it…. hell NO! If we accept everything thats throw to us… we wouldn’t have so much advancement in medical science and technology….. I believe there is a cure out there… its just who is willing to go to the extra miles to find it. I always believe the answer is already given to us by God…. now its up to us to go and find. … I guess what I am trying to say is… ” HOPE” is the key and “never give up” is our strength….

Well I feel bad for fergie, but also I have to say if someone this well known has thinning or Alopecia, then when we have to explain to someone why we are bald I can say “you know that hair disease that Fergie has” its going to take some beautiful well know lady or very handson hot guy with hair to go public to help make it more acceptble for us to walk around bald.

Personally, I for one, would love to see the press not give a flying you-know-what about what womens’ (or mens’, for that matter!) hair looked like. I mean, isn’t there more important stuff in the world to write articles about??? How pathetic and shallow a society we seem to be.
