Shelleo, I got Dr Redmonds book and unfortunately I’m so upset no longer is practicing or I would have flown to NY to see him. Are you seeing anyone in his placement with his expertise? Please share?

Hi Nadine,

I just found this site and you are the third person I am reaching out to tonight. Your post is now 8 years old and I don't see any further posts. Did you have any further success or suggestions regarding your daughter's difficulties? Thank you.

Tianna,

I have just found this chat and you are the second person I am reaching out to. I see that you posted in 2015, over 5 years ago. I am curious - Did you ever move, find any answers in your testing/search elsewhere and have any improvement? Thanks.

Hi Jill,

I am new to this website and have never done any kind of chatting on the internet so I am not sure if this will even reach you since the post you made that I read above is from 10/19/2015 but here on 7/21/2022, I am struggling with hair loss and I live in St. Louis. Did you or your daughter find anyone in this area who you would recommend reaching out to as they were helpful to you? Thank you. Nancy

I have had the same experiences. I have been looking for answers since 2017. I have been tested for everything as well and haven’t gotten any answers other than all of your levels are fine. This cannot be normal. If the shedding keeps happening at this rate I will not have any hair on my head because I don’t see any new hair coming in. I don’t know where to turn.

Have is everyone doing now? I’ve been steadily thinning fir the last 7 years. My doc doesn’t seem to care. I have low iron levels is the only thing she points out. I had an iron infusion. Not much difference in the hair loss. I don’t want to be bald. I’m in Portland, Oregon. Does anyone have any suggestions for what kind of doctor I should see?
Thanks

Hi!
I always had thick hair and did not notice my hair was thinning out until I went to a water park with my family and my scalp got burnt. I take Synthroid for my thyroid so I immediately got my thyroid tested. It was a little bit off but not enough to cause hair loss according to the doctor. I went into deep research mode and almost 2 years later my hair has stopped shedding and has grown back in thicker. I went to many doctors. Some were helpful and others were not. I tried many things and so it is hard to know what worked and what didn’t. I got off the BCP because the one I was on had a high androgen index. I started taking vitamin D, hair, skin, and nails vitamins, fish oil, and vitamin B. I started eating better- green smoothies in the morning with flax seeds. I also got off gluten and continued to exercise even though I was depressed and didn’t want to. I also took 200mg of spironolactone and started using men’s Rogaine. I went to counseling for the anxiety I developed from my hair loss and found a new endocrinologist that got my thyroid balanced. Going off the pill after 10 years really messed up my thyroid levels. After about a year and a half of this madness my thyroid was balanced and my hair stopped shedding. I am so thankful. To this day I am not sure what caused my hair loss. My guess is that it was a combination of thyroid, being on the BCP for so long, stress, and not taking care of myself. I continue to take my vitamins, eat well, exercise, and I use the Rogaine and take 150 mg of spironolactone. I know that this hair loss nightmare could easily occur again. I hope that if it does, I will not allow it to steal my joy like I did before. I write this in hopes that some of you may be encouraged.
